"Allah kyauta. The money he spent on these stuff, he could've just donated it to the orphans. Cause all of these things, both the family of the groom and the bride can't even consume it!"
"All of these politician kids, flaunting funds of the poor on unnecessary things as if it's thier own money, subhanallah"
"After all of this extravaganza, don't be surprised that the marriage won't even hold"
"It would fa, sadly, it's going to be those kinds of marriages which don't last long."
"The rich of nowadays, having money yet having no sense of usage"
Comments like this and other hateful ones similar to it are what flooded this post by northernblog on Instagram. This post came with a video attached to it, and the video was none other than the mountain of tokens which Sulaiman had brought for me for my nagani inaso.
I recognized the video well. It was the one which Basee has took the other day when they came to see my nagani inaso. Basee had took a Snapchat video and captioned: Ummu Noma's nagani inaso. Allah Sanya alkhairi(may Allah bless). No matter how I'd ask her not to, she still posted it on her story and in our class set group chat on Whatsapp for them to wish me well. And one green eyed person just had to share it with northernblog which is one of the most popular social media blogs, especially for us northerners. Someone whom I don't know shared this video to northernblog to shade our union and let the public's judgemental minds rinse thier dirty mouths on us when they know nothing.
The thing with the public is that, they hardly know the full story about anything, yet they're always the first to stupidly judge and continuously make assumptions, just like in this case.
"Politician kids?" They don't even know the real people involved with the video yet they've already gone ahead to assume that it has to be politicians. Just because politicians are mostly the unjust doesn't mean every other rich person in northern Nigeria is a politician. My dad worked really hard to be where he is today. From pushing a wheelbarrow at the market to building his own little stall. He achieved everything gradually until he became what he is today, a multi millionaire who owns one of the top five food processing companies in Nigeria.
And I'm not even talking about my dad alone, but Sulaiman too. I bet he must be really hard working and smart enough to be the MD of such a great company like my dad's. If he's rich and he wants to flaunt it, it's okay. He sweated it alone and with no one else.
Personally I believe my nagani inaso was really over the top. But what can I do? I can only hope for the best from Allah. After all, we dare not return the stuff back to Sulaiman's family since it'll obviously look like a slap on the face. Therefore we have no choice but to accept it.
About this union between me and Sulaiman lasting long or not, well at least I'm happy it's Allah who plans everything not a bunch of jobless lowlives who has nothing to do but sit on the phone all day waiting for posts to run thier stinky mouths on.
"Oh my God, this is driving me crazy" I sighed. Since this whole thing began I've just been going through one stress or the other. I abandoned my phone on my bed and sat up. I guess now I have to stay away from Instagram in order to stay sane.
Why are people even too attached to social media when it's literally a waste of time and low-key, a big source of depression. Somehow.
I decided not to think about the post and think about what was in my front at the moment. It was a few minutes to three and I had to prepare. Sulaiman was coming once again since the other day when I met him for the first time, last week.
