Author's POV

"I've f*cked up. I've f*cked up. I've f*cked up I've f*cked up I've f*cked up!" Sul barked alone in his car taking it all out on the steering wheel.

All hope is lost for him. He's well versed on that by now. Even a miracle from the stars won't convince Khayr to trust him again. Unless if she has amnesia. Heck even him himself can't allow Khayr to be with him. He couldn't just wrap his head around the fact that he had tried to rape her. Even if he wasn't necessarily in his right senses at that moment, it doesn't scratch off the fact that he tried to rape her. Rape is rape. Irrespective of the circumstances.

What was he even thinking in that moment? It was as if his mind was in a cloudy haze. His eyes were heavy and he felt like he was in a dream. And in that dream, it was Sharhabila he was seeing.

"I'm praying on your behalf Sherry. Gada Allah yasa in kamaki(may Allah not allow me to catch you). Kinsa na tapka babban kuskure(you've made me commit a huge mistake). Kinsa na zubda hawaye(you've made me cry). Kinja wa rayuwata bala'e(you've brought jeopardy to my life)." Sul pressed his forehead over his forearms which were crossed on the steering wheel as tears of hot regret rolled down his cheeks.

"How dare you" he growled all to himself. "How dare you create such a huge mess and flee?"

Sul looked up above his arms, looking at the entrance of Marhaba Inn which he was directly parked across. He has been closely monitoring the movements occuring in front of the Inn for quite some time now. All of the people coming in and those leaving.

It's been seventeen hours since Sherry fled and Sul is certain that wherever Sherry currently is, she's doing everything to bring herself back to this Inn. The receptionist had confirmed to him that after they cleaned the room that morning, they found some of her belongings. She had left something extremely important behind: her purse. The receptionist had given him her purse and he checked the contents of it. There were varieties of important identity cards and even her ATM card in it. Even if she's planning to go back to Lagos, there's no way she can leave without that purse. So Sul had asked Bashar to take the purse back to the room. The purse was the bait he's going to use to lure the fish.

His mind was currently so focused on locating Sherry, he couldn't think about anything else. Her escape has utterly distabilised him that he doesn't feels like he can ever rest until he finds her. That's why he has not slept a wink all night and has been here, keeping watch like a freaking spy.

Forget Sherry issue. Even the fact that he had tried to sexually violate his wife is enough to stop any form of solace from coming his way. He's well aware that he can never be able to sleep well again, not with Khayr's vulnerable image in that state of assault haunting his being.

But it hurts so much. It hurts like hell knowing that all candles of hope have been blown out for him and Khayr. He didn't need anyone to tell him that. He can't even be delusional.

But he had promised himself that he would not be a loser. Between Khayr and Sherry, he promised himself to end up with one. That's why he desperately needs to find Sherry. He would grant her wish and marry her, but she will pay a price for flipping his life upside down like this. She'll pay a huge price after they get married.
