[Jack's p.o.v.]
October 30th, 3036.
I was sitting in an almost empty room. The only other thing in here aside from myself was a loaded gun. The others were somewhere around this place. I was just sitting in here all alone and reminiscing to before.
Before hell broke out, everything was great. Everything was fine before the apocalypse. We were all happy, we were all together. Now... Now we aren't. We've been separated in the worst way possible.
I think back to before. I think back to before everything happened, to before I, we, lost them, Mystery and Jackie.
December 7th, 3034. The day Mystery died.
For a long time, I didn't know she was dead. I thought she got separated from us. Cake and Jackie told me that she got separated from us. One day though, I was told the truth by Alex.
We were going through an abandoned building, trying to get away from the hoard that was chasing us. Cake and I were ahead, Alex farther, with Mystery and Jackie following from behind, trying to keep us two safe. We got to the upstair area of the building, Alex completely out of sight.
"I think we can get across," Cake said as she pointed to beam that seemed to connect to another building.
"Maybe... May be dangerous though. If it isn't stable... Not to mention, this upstairs doesn't seem like it can handle us all..."
"I guess we go one at a time. Alex had to have gone through here and is hopefully fine."
"I suppose... You go ahead. I'll wait for the other two and tell them what's happening."
"Okay... Be careful."
"You be careful as well, Cake," I responded back.
She nodded and slowly started to cross. The other two made it up as Cake was crossing.
"We need to go, now!" Jackie yelled as he grabbed my arm and dragged me across the room. I look back and see a hoard coming up. Mystery was following from behind and Cake was trying to run ahead as to not put too much pressure on the floor.
What happened next was a blur. All I could remember was a gunshot and a loud sound I couldn't exactly identify. When things were clear we were somewhere outdoors, and Mystery wasn't with us.
I asked them where she was and Cake and Jackie told me she got separated along the way and that she's fine. I wanted more details, but they never told me anything more.
Alex told me the truth. They told him. Mystery tried to shoot a zombie that had gotten too close to her, but with the floor being unstable, her foot went through the floor and she shot the ceiling. It collapsed on her and the zombie which caused the floor to collapse, the remaining zombies falling down as well. If the fall and collateral damage that fell on her didn't kill her, the zombies definitely did.
I was in despair when he told me the truth. I really liked her, we were so close. I've known her for so long, since I was about eight and now she was dead. I didn't want to believe it, but I knew it had to be true. I confronted Cake and Jackie about this and they apologized for not telling me the truth. They said it was for my own good.
I tried my best to move on, but all I could do was remember the time we spent together.
It took a long time, but I eventually managed to move on from her death with the help of the others, mainly Jackie. He comforted me through these hard times. We got a lot closer after her death.
