I should have done better. I knew things were going to go south and I wasn't prepared.

I hold Jules' arm, stopping him from walking further. "She needs space and time to process this."

He has an interal battle with himself on if he should let her walk away or not. He finally relaxes and I let go of his arm.

"Adrian?" A new voice calls and I turn around. "I just saw Funke drive away and she didn't look happy. What is going on?" Jaxon asks, confusion written all over his face. His eyes move from me to Jules then back at me. "Don't tell me."

He knew that Jules was Funke's father. He has known ever since she was eight years old.

I sighed. "She found out."

"And you're just going to let her walk away like that?" I came to a halt in front of him.

"She needs space." I say and he groans.

"What the actual fuck? You should go after her, don't leave her alone to process this by herself. The last thing you need is a repeat of history."

"What history?" Jules says now, joining in on the conversation.

"You didn't tell him?" Jaxon's eyes are wide.

"The last person she wants to talk to right now is me." I say looking down at my feet. "I've known for a while now and I didn't tell her."

"But she doesn't know that." Jules counters. "And what didn't you tell me?"

"She'll get it out of me one way or the other. There's no way around it." I shook my head. "And what I didn't tell you..." the words felt heavy on my tongue. I couldn't say them.

Jaxon rolls his eyes. "Your daughter is suicidal."

"WHAT?" Jules yells and the entire house goes silent save for the music playing from the living room. He waits for people to continue their conversations before he speaks again. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"That was her job to do, not me. And since she clearly didn't tell you that means she doesn't trust you. Only a handful of people know this." I defend myself. "Look, uncle Jaxon, could you go over to meet her. Your presence would cheer her up and take her mind off what happened."

"Where is she headed?" He nods, taking out his car key from his pocket.

"If I know her well, she's headed for our old house. I'll direct you." I walk out of that hallway first and look for Andrew and Victoria.

They knew what was going on but I earlier told them to stay with the guests and I would tell them how it all went down later.

I called them to the side now while Jaxon and Jules walked out of the house. "Could you play host and hostess longer? We're going after Funke."

Riya nods. "Alright. Keep us posted."

"I will." I say before walking out of the house and into Jaxon's Lexus. I'm at shotgun and Jules is at the back.

The entire drive there, I can't push off this feeling of dread that something awful will happen. It's like a nagging voice ringing in my ears and it makes me uneasy.

"Could you drive faster?" My hands are playing with the seat belt strapped around my chest.

Jaxon steps on the gas and moments after we're parking in front of our old house. Jaxon notices my haste and he hurriedly walks ahead of me. He's about to reach for the doorbell but I stop him by pushing the door open. I wasn't expecting it to open but I shrug it off, that's the last thing we should be worried about.
