DEJA VU CREPT UPON Milani as she examined her attire for tonight's award show. Just a little over two weeks ago, a year ago, she was being nominated Best R&B/Soul Single by a female award, competing against Natalie Cole, Lisa Fischer, Patti LaBelle and Whitney Houston at the Soul Train Awards, and won.
And things had changed drastically to say the most. Over a week ago, Milani was proud to say that she was a three-time Grammy winning recording artist, winning Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for Vanishing, and Best Sung/Rap Collaboration for Crazy In Love with Tupac.
Unfortunately, Milani wasn't able to show to the special night of the award show due to the fact that she had a concert the same night and couldn't postpone it like she normally would. But she did let out a statement to thank the academy and her fans, especially.
Milani's album, Speechless was doing entirely well as everyone expected. The album was peaking number four at the moment, and DeVanté was convinced that it'd hit number one within the next two to three weeks. Milani and DeVanté were the only ones who had produced her entire album, alone in their home with one track from Teddy Riley.
"Favorite Soul/R&B Soul Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album, I'm proud of you baby." DeVanté told her, a big wide grin plastered on both of their faces. Milani was excited for tonight to say the least. She was up with some pretty well talented artists amongst herself just as the year before. Which made her feel the same way.
"Thank you, my love. I'm proud of you too. Favorite Soul/R&B Group or Duo." She smiled, running her hands down her silky dress. Tonight was the night of the 1993 Annual American Music Awards, Milani was nominated for two awards being Album Soul/R&B and Favorite Soul/R&B Soul Artist in the same category with one of her label-mates — obviously being Mary J. Blige. Meanwhile, Jodeci was nominated for Favorite Soul/R&B Group Duo.
But the only thing Milani was really looking forward to seeing or experiencing tonight was being up close with one of her favorite male artists in the industry, Bobby Brown. She heard that he was a fan of her music, which made her really know that she had made it far. He along with Gloria Estefan and Wynonna Judd were the hosts for the award show at the Shrine Auditiorum in Los Angeles, California.
Milani wore a silky tight dress that had a deep long v-neck that reached midway to her stomach, showing off her underboob tattoo and a side of her breasts that were swelling up from her pregnancy. She didn't mind it though, they weren't as big yet to pop out from her dress. The dress pooled down and around her feet, that were being worn with black thin heels. Her outfit was accompanied by two long lengthy necklaces one with a cross and one without a pendent.
