U AND I.
( CHAPTER FIVE ! )
STUDIO TIME.' 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘, 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟕, 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟏. '
quad recording studios ━━━ new york, new york !IT WAS A TYPICAL FRIDAY night for DeVanté, which was being in the studio, doing what he did best. The studio was his safe haven, an escape to reality, a place where he felt the most comfortable, a place where he could really reflect on himself and his work, privately.
Tonight, he was accompanied by his brothers, Mary and along with a couple girls the group they brought with them from the mall, a daily routine they every so often did.
Mary on was the verge of completing her album, completing her final song, I Don't Want To Do Anything with K-Ci, that was written and producer by JoJo, Darryl Pearson, and DeVanté, himself.
Although, a relationship was the last thing on either of the Jodeci's boys mind, K-Ci and Mary's romantic tension was very evidently felt in the air. You could tell the pair had some sort of feeling towards each other, just off the way they looked and sung together.
"Alright K, on the bridge when you join in on Mary, stay on the exact same key and smooth it out for the entire line. Don't go any higher until after." He ordered, watching as K-Ci nodded his head, placing back on the headphones. He harmonized the part for him, DeVanté nodding in approval before they started again.
"Together, we will be as one. Just me and you, will you love me?" They harmonized together, filling everyone in the room's ears. It was like their voices were meant to be sung together, DeVanté was sure the song would make it pretty far.
Dalvin came over to his brother, handing him the phone before shaking his head and chuckling. And just off that, DeVanté knew exactly who was on the other line, and he wasn't beat for it either.
"Hello?" His voice rung into the phone, Darryl began to take over at the soundboard as he noticed DeVanté's attention was off it. "You can't call anybody anymore? Your album just hit number one and you think you're too good for me?" The woman over the phone asked, soothing out her three year old son's curly head.
He sighed, tapping the girls thigh as a motion for her to get up from his lap. He rose up from his chair, walking out the door making sure to close the door behind him. "Yo, what'chu want? I'm working, and you calling me because you want something." He spat, pacing up and down the deep hallway. He hoped that nobody came around and saw him, and looked at him like he was crazy.
