"SO YOU'VE CALLED ME HERE FOR?" She asked Quik, who spun around in his chair when he heard the voice that belonged to the woman he was scheduled to see today. "I need help with this song for Mint Condition. They need this last and final song before they can release their album." He explained to her.
She took the seat next to him, him hanging her the sheet of paper that listed, Someone To Love. She looked around and noticed the group wasn't present in the studio. "Where are they? I can't blurt out my ideas for the song if they're not here for commentary." She slightly frowned.
"They should be here in a few, they hit me saying they got here a few seconds after you did so they're not that far behind. But tell me, does this sound right for the bridge?" He asked, he began he had taken lots of volume from the drums that he previously recorded, and the piano and saxophone was more heard more clearly than before.
"Yeah, that sounds good." She nodded, before the piano simply went to its own instrument, which was the ending part of the song.
Milani felt guilt rise within her knowing that she was in the studio with Quik, alone. DeVante didn't know much about her plan today, only knowing that she was going to the studio before she had a meeting with Puffy and Andre, while also being able to meet with Biggie.
But Quik knew his standards within his relation with Milani. He knew that they were strictly friends, and sometimes producing partners for other singers or their own songs. But he couldn't help but allow the feelings he had for the woman to be expressed sometimes. That was who he was, he did not care not one simple bit.
He wasn't backing down for DeVante, because that's not how he was. He was simply doing it for Milani, and Milani only. But something inside him told him that he shouldn't stop fighting for Milani, so he wasn't going to.
A few seconds later, the door had been opened, revealing the group of men that were to be Mint Condition. "Hey sorry, we're late. We got a little held back from our meeting." One of them quickly apologized, walking over to Milani and Quik at the soundboard.
"It's cool, we ain't complainin'. But Milani, this is Stokley, Ricky, Homer, Larry, Jeffery and Keri. Guys, this is Milani, I'm sure ya'll are familiar with each other." He introduced, Milani greeted them with hugs and smiles as always.
