Rina slams back another swig of a bottle she had stashed inside herself before saying "And that's my fucked up Ireland story."
As tears run down her cheeks, Grania stands, walks over to her friend and gives Rina a huge hug. "I felt how much you suffered through all that and, ummm, that was the most pain I've ever felt."
Grania starts to openly sob as Rina hugs her back." Calm down girl." Rina says softly doing her best to hide her pain. "I'm fucking good now and I think you have an interrogation to get to and you don't want to be red faced and crying for that shit."
"Yes you do, and you are late, so I am going to poof you there right now." Sir Puff and Fluff squeaks. He floats up and moves behind Grania. She ends her embrace and tries to compose herself. Sir Puff and fluff looks to Rina and Thrack, "What about you two? You guys need a poof somewhere?"
Rina thinks for a minute. "If it's not a closed interrogation I want to go cause it could be fun and possibly gooey." Thrack smiles and shakes his head no. Rina and Grania say goodbye to Thrack and Sir Puff and Fluff poofs them out of the room.
Thrack sit and enjoys the peace and the view while he finishes up his tea. About twenty minutes later, after his table is cleared and his generous tip left, his massive form stands slowly. His day was empty, and the rest of the group was busy so he, leisurely starts walking towards the main hall, passing by the table of new human recruits eyeing him with fear. From the corner of his vision, he spots Oooo, the sentient red slime, and gives Oooo a wave and smiles when Oooo waves a pseudopod back. He is just about to exit when he feels a slight tug on his robe. He turns and looks down to see a four-and-a-half-foot tall bipedal rat man. The relatively tiny creature has six earrings in each of his big ears, a large nose flanked by whiskers and a significant overbite showing his incisors. His tattered cloths hang off his thin frame and his tail is wrapped around his waist like a belt, so no one steps on it. "Hey hey friend Thrack Thrack." The odd creature says while twitching.
With a great smile, Thrack gives a gentle look to the creature less than half his size. "Well met friend Squeaks. What brings you to my company on this wonderful day?"
"Well well," Squeaks says in his own unique way. "I wonder if you have some time to help me train train. I I have been stuck at rank thirty-three for several years and I want to move up up."
Thrack ponders this offer for a moment. "Perhaps I can show you a trick or two. Are you occupied right now?" Squeaks gets a big grin upon his face as his twitching increases greatly. "I I am not occupied at all all."
"To the training rooms then!" Thrack declares with a smile. Him and Squeaks walk out of the dining hall into the main hall. It's a busy day as far as contracts are concerned and most mercenaries are off on jobs, so the hall is rather quiet and peaceful. Thrack and Squeaks catch up a bit current events. Thrack enthralls Squeaks with the story of the destruction of Tiamat. In return, Squeaks shares his adventure in the sewers of Chicago and the finding a slightly tattered shirt. A short while later, they make it to the training area, pick a room and enter.
Once the door is closed and sealed Squeaks puts his head down in shame. His ruby eyes look at Thrack and he says with a guilty voice "I I kind of lied to you Thrack Thrack. I I have a secret I want to show you and didn't think you would want to see it because no one has wanted to see it so far far." He grabs his tail. "So so I tricked you to come in here with me me."
A bit shocked by his words, Thrack looks to him with sympathy knowing few around the Guild are Squeaks' friends despite him being about the nicest guy in the whole guild. "Your actions are understandable, though not needed. You and I are friends, and I would be delighted to see this secret of yours."
"You you are always so nice to me me." Squeaks says with a big smile. "Here here is my secret secret." He takes his clawed fingertips and nervously tries to line them up. Bathed in curiosity, Thrack looks on as Squeaks finally puts all his fingertips together to from a sphere. Thrack's swirling masses focus on the center while Squeaks starts to twitch a lot. The concentration released by Squeaks in intense enough for Thrack to feel it pour off him. Squeaks starts to shake enough to make Thrack worried about him. Just before Thrack is about to stop him, a pinprick of pure base energy forms in the center of the sphere. Upon seeing it, Thrack drops his jaw in disbelief. Squeaks shakes violently as his small form struggles to maintain the very small bead. Unable to maintain it anymore, the bead destabilizes and flashes, knocking Squeaks on his back. Thrack can do nothing but stare as Squeaks slowly rises to his feet, breathing heavily.
In a rare, stunned stupor, Thrack finds himself speechless for a moment. Squeaks looks up at him still trembling and takes a moment to catch his breath. Finally shocked words exit Thrack. "T-that was pure base energy!" His mind races as he asks, "How did you accomplish such a feat?"
Obviously still tired, Squeaks breathing returns to normal before he says "Well well, you all say if I want to be stronger, I must train and train train. I I have seen you do that trick before and thought I would try that that. So so I trained and trained hard, every day, for the last six months months."
"Y-yes you did." Thrack's brain still struggles to comprehend how Squeaks taught himself in such a short time something people spend centuries learning. "Squeaks, that impressed me more than the seven colors of Tiamat!"
Honored by his words, Squeaks lets out a happy noise. "I I really try to get stronger stronger. My my dream is to go on a job with you guys one day day. And and you told me once that the first step is hardest hardest."
Thrack smiles while he moves over to one of the benches and takes a seat. "You are correct in that knowledge. Now it seems you took your first step friend Squeaks."
Wearing a big smile, Squeaks scurries over and sits next to Thrack. His ruby eyes fill with curiosity as he looks to his friend. "So so friend Thrack, how did you take your first step step?"
A small, almost somber chuckle leaves the massive troll. "My training started long ago, but the events preceding matter as well. Without those events, my first step could not happen. Perhaps a tale desires sharing..."
