Hawkins Indiana'Chapter Four: The Body'
'One of us is lying'
I wake up to Kyle's arms wrapped around my waist as he rests his head on my stomach, my arm is wrapped around is side. I sit up accidentally waking up Kyle. He rustles and rubs his eyes. "Hey are you okay?" I question him releasing his arms from around me. "Can I stay home from school today?" He questions sitting up. I look at him and smile sadly ruffling with his hair "I'm sure aunt Jenni won't mind."
I jump out of my bed and so does Kyle. I just put on some clothes I found on the floor and tie my hair up in a socket bun. Kyle walks out of my room dragging his body to his and closing the door. My heart aches for him, I can't imagine how he feels. I don't know what it's like to loose a best friend since I'm acquainted with the assholes, apart from Barb.
As I walk down the hallway I hear "over and out" from Kyle's room. He's probably talking to the boys on the walkie-talkie he has. I would give anything to switch positions with him and take all his pain away.
I continue my journey walking down the corridor to the stairs. As I get to the last step I see aunt Jenni sitting at the table with a cup of tea in her hand, I walk on over to her. "Kyle isn't going to school today I think he's going to go to the boys" I say sitting down next to her. She stares at me before she answers "That's fine. I feel awful for him, losing a best friend." She says as she pulls the cuppa to her mouth. "Well I'll be going now, make sure he okay. Bye Jenni" I say standing up and walking towards the pot with keys in. "Bye hunny" she yells sipping her tea.
Time skip:
It's around eleven o'clock and I have a free period. I love a good free period I get to miss maths which is great. I walk down the corridor to the bleachers where gym period is going on. As I open the doors I see the football team running down the track and yelling from people playing basketball.Everyone around me goes back in for their lessons as I casually walk around the school. What I didn't expect to see was Nancy and Steve going into a corner to talk I guess in private. My curiosity kicks in and my body starts moving in the direction of where they are. I blame my dysfunctional childhood for this trait.
I try not to get too close to them but close enough to overhear the conversation. I lean against the wall and look towards the football field pretending not to hear them. "I don't understand you went back to my house?" He questions confusedly. "To look for Barb" Nancy corrects him. I don't blame her she was looking for her best friend. "Yeah okay but, why didn't you just talk to me?" He asks again.
He really doesn't get it does he? He doesn't even have a best friend let's me honest, his best friend is probably his hairspray. "I don't know, I was scared" she answers. I scrunch my face up, if she was scared why did she go in the first place? Doesn't make sense.
