I slept peacefully knowing that Jen had agreed to move in with me back in my island. I had tried to play it off in front of her, as to me not being as bothered or as concerned as I had been when Sean had told me that the paparazzi had followed her and had invaded her privacy. But when Lin-Manuel had gone into further details, my heart broke for her. Not only was she prone to panic attacks, but now she had to deal with the ignorance of the media. They were still angry that I had won the trial.
It didn't matter, I knew that soon, we would be away from the public eye.
I was due back on set the next morning. I felt better knowing that Jen's parents were also gonna be there. They decided to visit and spend a couple of nights with us so that Jen would always have someone with her.
"How is Jen doing?" Tim asked.
"She's hanging in there," I sighed.
"The media wasted no time in printing up the pictures," Tim responded, shaking his head. He was as frustrated as I was.
"I know," I frowned. "And apparently, she had a meltdown when she was asked about our relationship. Fucking vultures."
"That's the media for you," Tim agreed. "They will sensationalize any story to get clicks and sell."
"Yeah," I nodded. "Fuck them. As soon as we wrap up, I'm taking her to my island."
Tim looked surprised. "Did she agree?"
"Yeah," I smiled. "I talked to her yesterday, and she agreed. It will give us the privacy we need. I just need to talk to her parents tonight and see what they say."
"I'm glad," Tim smiled. "She needs to get away. Both of you do."
I nodded. We went back to set, where we filmed for the remainder of the evening.
I was relieved to drive up to Jen's house. I loved my house back in Los Angeles, but I didn't miss it. Jen's house had a lot more privacy and the neighborhood was quieter. I let myself in and heard people engaged in a conversation in the living room.
"There he is," Jen's dad smiled.
"Hey," I smiled. I greeted everyone individually. A Latin custom I was made aware of when I was back in Mexico. I then leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Jen's lips. "Hi, baby," I whispered.
"Hi," she smiled back. "How was work?"
"Good," I said, sitting next to her. "We are nearing the end and I am relieved. I love being a part of the shoot, but I think I need some rest."
"I know," she whispered.
We finished up with dinner as everyone walked back into the living room. This was the perfect opportunity to talk to Jen's parents about my plans.
"Sir, I wanted to talk to you in private," I smiled nervously.
"Okay," he nodded. "Let's walk into the office."
I followed him into Jen's office and closed the door behind us.
"I was talking to Jen last night," I began. "About the paparazzi incident. Initially, I really did believe that because this house is in a gated community, that she would be safe and that she would have her privacy. I was wrong."
He nodded and let me continue.
"I am very overprotective of Jen," I smiled.
"I know you are," he smiled back. "And I thank you for that."
