Chapter 36: Hopeless

"Bracelety's gone too!"

Gelatin, Cake, Fries, and Woody were all together since they wanted to know more about the disappearances of their friends. Last time, they had lost Blocky, now Bracelety was gone too. Nobody else knew about this since they were too busy doing something else. Cake was starting to get worried. Who knows who's next to leave? Where do they even go after they disappear? This is the afterlife, right? Surrounded by your friends and the people you care about? Except, it didn't feel like it. It was more of a waiting room than a paradise. It's like we're waiting for time to be up and return. That's what it felt like being here. I wonder if anybody else is feeling like this. He looked around to his friends. Everybody was too invested in the absence of the two objects. Sighing, Cake returned to join his friends, now equally on board with finding the answer to this situation. Everybody was still thinking about how this happened when Cake spoke up.

"Why don't we just ask Leafy? Isn't she the first person to be here and leave? She probably knows."

"Cake, you're a genius! I can't believe I didn't think about that!"

"You have the mindset of a leader."

"Wah!"

"Oh, thanks guys! We should probably focus on Leafy though."
Nodding, Gelatin led the group to Leafy, who was currently being interviewed by Pillow, with Remote close behind them. Pillow soon noticed them and signaled to Remote to leave. She nodded and both left the scene. Leafy waved goodbye and soon waved hi to the 4 of them. 

"Hey guys! Isn't today a good day? Or night. I'm not sure, but I feel great today!"

"Hey Leafster! Me and my pals wanted to know about something."

"Oh geez, another interview? How popular am I today?"

"Haha, yeah. Anyways, it's about Blocky and Bracelety."

"What about them?"

"Well, we've noticed that they're, gone? Do you know how it happened? I mean, you yourself have been here and left."

"...Are you serious?"

"What do you mean 'Are you serious?' Yes! Both of them are gone, just poof! Vanished."

"No way! I can't believe it! They managed to do it!"

"Uh, Leafster? You, okay? Is it a good thing that they're gone?"

"YES! Yes Gelatin, it IS a good thing! That means they've returned! I can't believe it."

"Whoa, whoa, what do you mean they've returned?"

"They've back on Goiky! I'm not sure how, but they're back!"

"Wait, they're back? How? I thought we couldn't be recovered once we died."

"I don't know, but they must be back, otherwise, there's no other way to return."

"But wait, then why don't the... Rest of us return?"

"Because... We haven't died yet."

"Um, excuse me? We clearly have. Otherwise, we'd still be down there."

"No, no, you don't understand-"

Leafy suddenly stopped talking, as she seemingly just passed out and fell to the floor. She talked too much.

Leafy opened her eyes, she was back here. In front of her lied a maze, which was a neon red and green ombre. She took a step back. No, not here again. Please. Anywhere but here. She looked behind her in fear. Just a grey wall. She was trapped. She crouched on the ground and held her legs in her arms and began crying quietly. She hated it here. It opened too many memories, memories she wished would just stay buried. Why? Why was she back here? She didn't deserve this, did she? Sniffling, she stood back up and faced the maze. There was a large fog in it, and she couldn't see the end. She wiped her tears away and started walking towards the maze, entering it. It was quiet at first, but after a few more steps, she heard two voices arguing. She tried to go the opposite direction of the voice, but then it faced her.
