Book & Bottle

"How much longer?"

"Just a little more, Bottle."

Bottle let out a groan and slouched, walking slowly behind Book. Ever since Book had come up with the idea to avoid David and Naily, they'd been walking through the desert nonstop. She looked back to the tracker in her hands, which was dirtier with grains of sand on it. She frowned and tried to clean it off with her hand but clicked her tongue in frustration when the small grains seemed to be unmoving. The tracker beeped occasionally, showing Naily moving towards the desert area, where she and Book were. David showed similar results, which prompted Book's insistence on them walking for this long. She had said something about going to the end of the area or whatever, Bottle didn't remember nor care to. She groaned,

"We've been walking for too long! Come on, Book. Let's take a break."

Book turned back to look at her like she was crazy. Bottle nodded in response; her eyes filled with exhaustion and finality. Book continued to stare at her, which would've unnerved Bottle if it wasn't for the contemplation in her eyes. That was probably the most Book has given her, so if she had a chance, she wasn't going to waste it. Bottle spoke up once more.

"David and Naily are like, miles away or something! We could take a short break, it's not like they'll suddenly catch up to us."

"Yeah, but you never know! Listen, this is life or death, Bottle. For both of us! If one of us dies, the other does too. We HAVE to be-"

CHINK!

Book stopped talking.

Her mouth was open in shock as she stared at Bottle. Bottle's eye was opened wide, her mouth opened in shock as well as a medium-sized throwing knife was stuck in her other eye, shards of glass inside her as well as scattered below Book and Bottle's feet. In the distance, a loud whoop was heard, which snapped Book out of it, and she looked in the direction that the scream came from. Coiny was behind them, not too far away. He had his fist raised in the air as a victorious smile was on his face. Book cursed and grabbed Bottle's arm, who was still in shock with a hand raised up to her impaled eye, crystal liquid flowing between her fingers from the wound.

"Move Bottle, move! I knew we should've just kept walking!"

Book started running, dragging Bottle by her arm as she did so. Bottle blinked and seemed to get back to reality. She shook her head and let her arm fall from her wound, running the same pace as Book as they heard footsteps quick behind them. She frowned; her eyes wide as something akin to adrenaline started to fuel her movements. Her eye was still pouring out crystal liquid, which began to drip down onto the beige sand. After a little bit, Book started to slow down, getting tired. Bottle didn't notice, still continuing at the same pace as Book started to fall behind. Book looked behind her, looking to see if Coiny was still behind them. Unfortunately, he was. He was running as well and wasn't too far behind. Book widened her eyes, cursing in her head a million times over. She couldn't run anymore. She can't. She was hungry, and she hadn't run that fast for that long in at least a week. Coiny was now close enough where she could see his face and make out his expression.

He looked confident, like he'd just won. Of course he won, what am I on about? Book was ready to accept defeat. She slumped to the floor, on her knees now as her hands remained at her side. Coiny was now walking towards her, a larger knife in his hands. She looked down at the sand, her legs shaky, her hands against the coarse particles.

"..well."

Book's face was hidden from Coiny's sight. He'd raised the knife above his head, his eyes focused on her back.

"Well." He spoke back.

He didn't hesitate any longer.

Bottle was still running, panting heavily. Where was Book? I'm sure she's alright. Book's strong, Book's smart. She's alright. This stupid sticky... The crystal liquid that had appeared from her wound was still flowing in great quantities. It stuck to her glass body and felt like glue or slime. What was this even? After what felt like hours, Bottle suddenly stopped. Her eyes went wide, and she fell to the floor. A few moments after Bottle had stopped moving, Coiny approached her body, poking it with the knife. She was in a pool of the liquid, and it seemed to grow larger when Coiny poked her body. He moved back, looking at her corpse with apprehension.

"Eugh, why is there so much blood?"

He walked around. The bracelet that was on her wrist was a dull color now. He gave her body a final look over before walking off. If he had stayed for longer, he would've seen her fingertips twitched.

David & Naily

After what was forever, Naily finally had seemed to get what David was saying. They were now walking towards a desert area, now on the edge of the plains. Naily checked her tracker. Bomby was also moving in the direction of the desert area. She felt a small smile tug at the ends of her lips. He's still good. He's alive. She looked back up at David. Even though she couldn't understand him, she's sure that he's a good guy. Despite his...strange quirks. At least he's trying to work together with me. He was in front, a blank expression on his face. One hand was holding the tracker while the other was holding onto the bag that he had over his shoulder.

"So...are we almost there to Coiny?"

David gave her a glance before continuing to walk. She frowned. Yeah, his lack of words was a challenge, but she could make up for them.

"Coiny's working with Gaty, right? Gaty's cool. I haven't really talked to her, but she seems alright. It's going to be good to partner with another team! That'll definitely help us."

How does an object have the ability to talk so much? David gripped the tracker tighter. Is Naily capable of being quiet? He looked down at the tracker. Coiny was right in the middle of the desert area. David could see the mountain growing close. As soon as they passed that mountain, they would be in the desert. Hopefully Coiny would stay put until then.

"You know, I wonder who's going to die first. Hopefully it's not Bomby. Is there anybody you don't want to die? I assume Coiny, but..."

Tuning her out was something David was doing more often than not now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am so sorry for taking a while again. But hey, here is another chapter. It was a struggle, and I think the rest will be rushed. I'm sorry, but this was written when TPOT had one episode, and so much more's been given with the characters. Thanks for reading anyways, I'm glad you still read this <3
David and Naily will get more though, don't worry. I've been neglecting them lately, but they will be getting more now that we have two dead.
