Team: A Better Name Than That!
Grassy tries to comfort everyone.
Grassy was in front of 8-ball's room. It was 4 days after Tennis Ball comforted Grassy, and it didn't look good. 8-ball now never came out of his room, and Golf ball preferred to tinker with her inventions than help their team. Tennis Ball was their closest to being a leader, but it was clear he was losing sleep helping their team with their separate needs. Grassy himself was less cheerful, but he was still the most hopeful. Even though Golf ball spent most of her time with her inventions, Grassy saw her preparing food for them sometimes. Tennis Ball took more breaks, and Grassy swore he saw 8-ball eating the leftovers yesterday. However, 8-ball didn't look too good when he saw him. His eyes were red from crying, and he had a bruise on his 8. "Probably from hitting the wall a lot," Grassy thought, as there were loud bangs from his room occasionally. He didn't want to live in an environment like this! Grassy thought about what he could do to raise their spirits, and he decided to tackle them all one by one. He started with 8-ball, seeing as he would be the hardest to get through. He closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath. He knew that he was going to be in for a long time. After thinking about what to do, he opened his eyes and knocked on his door.
"8-ball? It's Grassy! I thought you could use some company."
8-ball looked at the door. Grassy was at it, asking to come in. He didn't want to let him in, not when he was in this state. He had been torn apart from Basketball's death, but not only that. His team also refused to look more into it! This angered him, and he took that out on the wall. It was clear how much anger he had, as the wall had a large dent in it, and the part with the most impact no longer had any paint. He soon heard the door open behind him and turned his face so that Grassy could only see his back side. 8-ball hoped that Grassy wouldn't want to know more and was just checking up on him, until Grassy gave him a hug.
"It's ok 8-ball, Grassy gets what you're going through. I enjoyed Basketball's company too."
Grassy had closed his eyes and didn't see what reaction 8-ball had. Frustration? Gladness? Relief? Anger? He really hoped that 8-ball would accept this hug, since Grassy knew that he needed one. There was silence for a while, but Grassy was still hugging him. What was happening? Did 8-ball fall asleep or something? Then, he heard a small sob.
"Th-Thanks Grassy, I needed t-that."
8-ball was silent because he was lost in his thoughts. Memories were dug back up, like seeing Basketball's icon turn gray, losing T.V and Robot Flower, and many more. Soon, he felt tears running down his face. Since he didn't want Grassy to see him cry, he tried to get Grassy to leave his room.
"Say, I'm feeling better now. Y-you can leave."
"Ok! If you need Grassy again, call Grassy's name!"
"Yeah, thanks again."
Grassy felt better! Now that he comforted 8-ball, the rest shouldn't be so hard. He was downstairs now, and saw Tennis Ball sleeping in the chair, with a plate next to him, all prepared. There was a note besides it, and Grassy decided to read it.
Here's some food when you wake up. I know you've been working hard, so I made some food for you.
-Golf Ball
Grassy was smiling, but also sad. It was great that Golf Ball cared for Tennis Ball, but he felt left out. She never did anything for him, yet here she was, making another snack for Tennis Ball. He knew that Golf Ball liked Tennis Ball over Grassy and 8-ball, but it still felt sad. He snapped out of it soon however and went to Golf Ball's room. She was wearing a welding mask and attaching two pieces of metal together to form a large device. She didn't seem to notice that Grassy entered the room and threw some spare parts behind her. One of them ended up getting in Grassy's blades, but he didn't seem to notice.
