Chapter 28: A Fork in the Road

David

He was considering his options.

David was just waking up from a nap. He had been sleeping in a tree, completely lost in his OWN territory. He had managed to cross the border from Iance's area, however he forgot where his base was. He thought it was beyond the mountains, but it was too far for him. So, he thought he could go around it, but ended up losing his way. Now, he was climbing down the tree and looking around. He could still see the mountains in the distance but went the other direction. Instead of looking for a safe place to stay, he would go on the attack. After all, he DID manage to take down Snowball, one of the stronger contestants. He knew that Iance was behind him, and the Losers were in front of him. He had listened to the announcement that 4 made and knew that he would lose in a game of numbers. In strength though, maybe not.  For Iance, Flower and Pencil were left. In the Losers, Pin and Coiny. He compared the two options, trying to see which team would be easier to target. Both were pretty evenly matched though and had similar qualities. In the end though, David went towards Iance. Even though they were even on the strength side, the teamwork side? Not so much. Although he didn't want to walk all the way back, he assured himself it was worth it.

Book reflects.

Book was looking back at the base. She knew that Taco wouldn't make it and grinned. However, she kept thinking about it. About what Lollipop said, about Taco's situation, and couldn't help but feel a little sympathy. She knew what she had done is wrong, but she didn't know what to do to fix it. Taco was going to die and think about her reaction. She touched her other arm and moved it up and down. Maybe she was looking at it wrong, maybe Blocky was at fault. He might have managed to convince her to stay with him. She couldn't see the full picture, and that angered her. She let out a sigh of frustration and looked at her team. Saw and Gaty were talking nervously, glancing back at her and the base. Ice Cube never looked back at her and was instead focused on the path in front of her. Teardrop was doing the same as Ice Cube, but not for the same reason. Dora was at the back with her, not talking at all. Once she felt Book's gaze land on her, she turned around quickly. Book, startled, turned around fast. Something about Dora made her uncomfortable, possibly her being human. Lollipop was- wait. Where was Lollipop? Don't tell me! Although this was unlikely, it was always possible that she went back. She quickly alerted Saw and Gaty about this, and both said nothing. Gaty gave her a glare and turned around. Saw looked anxiously at her and the house, but soon turned around too. Book stopped walking and turned around swiftly. With Lollipop to help her, they were going to arrive, and it would be back to how it was. Nervously, she started approaching the house, and was soon tapped on the shoulder. Dora was speaking in her language again but had a curious look. She knew that she understood what she said, so explained to her what she was going to do. Honestly, she had no idea why she wanted to. For some reason, her feet dragged her back to the building, and soon enough was running. It didn't take long to see them though, as she could see them on the road, walking back. Taco had a tired look on her face, and Lollipop was calmly walking, crossbow in hand. As soon as they saw Book, Lollipop's face fell and was walking faster. Taco did the same, except she had a more nervous look compared to Lollipop's disinterested one. Book's pace also quickened, and soon she was staring at Lollipop and Taco, who did the same. It was a long silence, until Lollipop finally said,

"Sigh, listen Book-"

"Sorry."

"Wait, what did you just say?"

"I'm sorry. I thought more about it and realized that you believed there was no other option."

Lollipop and Taco had just gone against a weird Blocky, which they managed to defeat. Now, they were thinking about how to explain everything to Book. However, once she apologized, Lollipop was confused. Just 10 minutes ago she seemed to not budge about her reasons, now was apologizing. What changed her mind? Lollipop didn't really care, and instead smirked and looked at Taco. She looked relieved and gave Book a hug. Book was surprised but soon returned the hug. Lollipop didn't care and soon focused on what was in front of them. Dora and Teardrop were soon coming towards them. She alerted the other two and soon they started walking back to their team. With the issue solved, they can tell the others to come back.

Author's Note: I made another mistake with this AU. So, for some reason, my mind was like, "Gelatin was crushed under the weight with Evil Leafy." However, when I looked back at the episode, he died with Firey from her. So, oopsies. What's been done had been done though, so I'll continue making the story from how it is already.
