The ground gives way under my feet. I am dizzy. Unable to regain my balance, I tip back. Against all odds I collide and hit myself, bumping into an enormous mass. And there my eyes close after glimpsing a blurry silhouette leaning towards me...
8:15 pm.
The door is closed. Through the window I see a feminine silhouette getting in her car and driving away. She seems in a rush and didn't look behind. I get up and put a shirt on then I run downstairs and grab the keychain on the table.
It's about 8:30 pm now. I am almost late.
After fifteen minutes, I finally arrive at my destination. They were already here. I join the circle and we greet each other we then start to talk about tonight's program. My turn had been delayed- I'd have to wait almost two additional hours, boss order they said. We all know who the boss is. However, none of us had met him.
It doesn't matter ( it never did) because tonight is the first race for this season.
The euphoria of meeting again after a few weeks of absence. The true connection between the course and me, the asphalt and me, was so strong. I sigh. A heart that sighs do not have what it desires. Still a little patience. Deep down I have an indescribable sensation that gives me a lump in my stomach, excitement. At 9:00 the drivers entered their cars, and the race is about to start. The lights were turned off, people were coming from everywhere and suddenly the circle grew bigger. It was pitched black, around us, the only source of light we had came from the cars that were ready to go in the following seconds. Their engines were already growling. Some drivers were lining up beside their cars. A few cars were waiting for the next races.
Five, four, three, two, one...
Smoke invaded the spot where we were standing. The crowd started screaming as the cars were driving away.
Rapidly two cars were further than the rest.A white car was followed to the nearest meter by a blue car It seems as though most people had bet on the white one since it's "the invincible K".But I have to admit the blue car owner wasn't bad, even though at the last corner he hesitated. That error was fatal to him, he couldn't reduce the little gap that there was between them, on the contrary, it only increased since he had been slowed down by the curve.
The invincible K had won, again. He passed the final line followed forty seconds later by the blue car. Everyone screamed victory.I was looking at the blue car without knowing it. I will be looking forward to his next race. This driver was intrepid, I was somewhat intrigued by his technique.
Suddenly a large silhouette seemed to extricate itself from the interior of the car. The electric blue car reflected the gleams of the full moon while he was standing. He turned around slowly, closing the door with a bang. He looked furious at his defeat. However the second his eyes landed on mine he dodged a small sneer and turned around just as quickly.
His silhouette stood tall and thin. The curls covered the top of his face up to his eyes, which reinforced his mysterious look. I was suddenly curious of knowing more, even though I had never seen him here before. It's not very common to see new people around here either. Who could he be?
The desire to unravel this mystery grew faster than I could imagine. I decided to follow him discreetly, slipping into the crowd as they were ecstatic, endlessly cheering the victory of the invincible K.
