17. Remembering Pain

Narrator's POV

"What did I do?" Y/N asked Reiner, panic in her voice.

"Huh?" Reiner looked at her trying to figure out what she meant.

"What did I do to upset Mikasa?!" Y/N got up and shook Reiner by his shoulders as he wasn't able to resist against her overwhelming strength even when she wasn't feeling well.

"Y-y-o-o-u-u d-d-i-i-d-d n-n-o-o-t-t-h-h-i-i-n-n-g-g," Reiner tried to say.

"What?" Y/N asked as she stopped shaking him to be able to hear him properly.

"I said that you did nothing!"

"Oh, so that's the problem. That I do nothing ever," Y/N's head drooped down.

"No! Calm down," Reiner attempted to calm down his friend and clear up the misunderstanding, "Sit down!" Y/N sat on her bed, "Mikasa didn't do it to hurt you! She was trying to stop you from saying something you would regret and gave you an overdose by mistake since she's not good with chemicals."

"Oh," Y/N finally calmed down trying to process all the information given to her. She almost said something that she shouldn't have and Mikasa sedated her to stop her. The problem was that she had absolutely no recollection of what happened. Possibly because of Mikasa accidentally giving her an overdose but she knew that even with her anger issues, she had a lot of self control and wondered how she got in such a position in the first place. She also wondered why Mikasa had to take such an extreme measure to stop her and why she couldn't stop her like a normal person would.

"We're here!" Mikasa announced as she rushed into Y/N's chambers with Marlowe following behind her.

"Apologies, Your Highness. I got late because I was treating Jean who got bruised due to fighting with another squad-," Marlowe muttered panting, tired from running.

"Oh, are they okay?" Y/n asked, worried about her guards.

"They're perfectly fine, Your Highness. Please reprimand them later since this has been going on for a while. And, I suppose Reiner here has already explained what happened so I just have to check you over after the sedative overdose," Marlowe explained.

"Oh, okay," Y/N calmly replied as she laid down on her bed as Mikasa and Marlowe just gave her confused stares, aware that she didn't have the full grasp of the situation.

"She doesn't need to know yet," Reiner told them, earning a confused look from Y/N and agreeing nods from Mikasa and Marlowe as they got to their work.

"Know what?" The look of innocent confusion on her face shattered the hearts of her friends and her worker that she treated as family because they knew what she was forgetting.

"I'll tell you after Marlowe's checked you over," Mikasa told Y/N.

"How are you feeling, Your Highness?" Marlowe said, opening his briefcase on the couch next to Reiner near the bed.

"Terrible. My head's hurting really bad and loud voices are making it hurt even more," Y/N repeated her problem for the umpteenth time.

"Those are expected results since it was an extremely heavy overdose that I wouldn't recommend even for a bear," Marlowe sideways glanced at Mikasa.

"I didn't mean to, okay?" Mikasa tried to defend herself, "I panicked!"

"But why did you even have such a strong sedative in such large amounts anyway? And how did you even manage to carry a ten inch syringe filled with sedative undetected? And also, why did you carry more sedatives for Her Highness than I asked you to?!" Marlowe said, now angry because Y/N's safety was brought on the line.
