Reader's POV

Erwin opened my chambers doors as Mikasa dragged me and pushed me in my water closet as I barely was able to look at the person who came to deliver the letter.

It was Eld.

I put my ear against the door and tried to listen to the conversation held in my chambers.

"What letter?"

"It arrived just now! And Sir Floch from the Imperial Palace personally came to deliver it."

"Hm." Erwin seemed to have accepted the letter.

"And there are four more."

"From who?"

"Sir Marcel came to deliver Her Majesty's letter," Eld announced as I assumed it was the reply to the letter I had Erwin write to the Empress in reply to the letter she sent me regarding my marriage.

"I see. And who else?"

"Her Highness, the crown princess of the French Empire, Lady Leonhart and Lord Hoover."

"Very well. You may go," Erwin told Eld as I heard my chambers doors shut and my water closet's door swung open, letting me out.

"I'm sure you already heard who the letters are from since I know you and how impatient and curious you are so you eavesdropped," Marlowe said to me, still angry at me from before.

"Can you stop insulting me now?"

"Can you stop making me insult you?"

I sighed and ignored Marlowe as I took Father's letter from Erwin.

"Show it to me," Reiner peered over my shoulder.

"That's what she said," I murmured under my breath, letting only Mikasa and Reiner hear it, causing Reiner to stifle a laugh and Mikasa to roll her eyes.

I nervously opened the envelope, trying to rid my shakiness with jokes. Despite my rudeness, I hadn't sent Father a letter and it had been nearly two weeks since the incident and I hadn't sent an apology or apologise in person. I hoped that Father wouldn't be cross and understand that I wasn't in a position to do anything the past days.

I pulled out the letter and started reading it.

To Prince George,

I see that you offered assistance in preparing for the Imperial Family dinner and I accept. Floch will be visiting again in two days to discuss the preparations and what your role will be. Be ready by then.

The Emperor of the English Empire,

Eren Yeager

I read through the letter one more time to look at messages between the lines and I did find one. 'Be ready by then' didn't mean that I only had to be ready for making preparations but also that I had to be ready to apologise and make up for my mistake.

I handed the letter to Niccolo so that he could take a look at it after me along with the others as I took the next letter from Erwin's hands.

The Empress's.

To Prince George,

Greetings Prince. You gave me very surprising news by saying that you already had someone in mind that you wished to marry as your Father always pushed the matter of any of his children's marriage away and left it up to them. I, however, am extremely worried and would like to know who the young lady that has caught your eye may be.

I send my condolences for the recent event.

The Empress of the English Empire,

Pieck Finger
