Narrator's POV

"I-I don't understand," He shook, "Why us?! What the hell does the world want from us?! No, it was my fault. I came too late. Now I left Isabel behind too. What should I do? What does he want from her?!"

Furlan Church held his head in his hands, sitting in the room he had been assigned. From his quarters to his food, everything he had been getting was far better than the Underground but what could he feel but remorse for not coming up sooner to be in time to save his friend.

"If he was caught trying to kill the prince then he is dead. Sent back to the Empress? Dead or she would have given him back! But what could I do?! I couldn't come up here without the sources that guy had! And the Empress would only push her new pawn ahead once her previous one had failed!' Furlan sobbed, "And now he is after Isabel.... What does he want from her? How should I protect her from here? I knew it! I shouldn't have left her behind! I know that they will take care of her but they can't protect her against this tyrant!"

Furlan laid back down on his bed, the back of his arm covering his eyes, "How disappointed Levi would have been of me. For leaving her behind. And I'm sorry, Levi. I couldn't come save you. I'm sorry that I gave up on arguing with you and let you go on ahead. I'm sorry that I told you that we should go ahead with this plan. I should have just listened to you and trusted that you knew best. What-what will I do now? Without you, without her, there is no place in this world for me as I only wanted to live above the ground with you both. Now, seeing the sun gives me no joy and it could crash on Earth for all I care."

"I'm sorry, Levi. I owe you a lifetime worth of apologies but I think that's enough for now. I have to avenge you and I have to keep her safe so I don't owe you a lifetime more," Furlan decided as he tore up, only crying lightly because his heart refused to accept it, accept that the man he loved was dead, and so in a sense, he was still in denial.

"It's good that I poisoned that bastard," Furlan sat up, "And he was looking for me, planning to make me meet the same end as you. Though I wouldn't mind that, getting to see you again but...I can't leave her alone yet. So wait for me, Levi. Wait for me until I kill him and get her above the ground where she can be safe even if she is alone. I poured some more poison in his wine earlier when he left me with it unattended so he should drink it any second now, as soon as he comes back. And as you probably saw from above, that bastard and his pretty little guard thought I was trying to kill him with that bottle. That was a distraction to the fact that I poured some more poison in there. Though the first dose should have been enough to kill a normal person, the Imperial Family is anything but normal and this guy, he has the blood of both the Imperial families that have special blood so I imagined that he would be a tough nut to crack. But what was unexpected was how easy it was to poison him, as if he was already out of his senses before he even picked up the bottle of wine. And the effect was worse than I expected as if he was already being fed poison for some time that weakened his strength. I know you don't know what I'm talking about since you have never been interested in the 'Three Powerful Bloodlines' and you don't even know what they are but this guy here is the chosen one of this generation. I could tell by how effortlessly he beat me."

Furlan pulled out his wallet from his pocket as he stared at the pictures he drew of his friends. Those pictures weren't perfect but his friends were according to him. Those pictures weren't perfect but the moment was when Isabel had told him that he could have become an artist. He felt like he had a family when he heard the sweet compliment and even Levi saying that it was 'not bad' which were actually high words of praise in Levi's dictionary. Furlan reminisced for a few moments longer before talking again.

"I heard that some Imperial Family members have a practice of taking poison to build an immunity to it but Levi, if it was an immunity then he wouldn't be affected much. How could an immunity to poison make an effect worse? Levi, I have heard of poisons that are fed over the years and they jam in a person's body and make them weaker slowly and kill them with time. There is no antidote for them. The only way to get them out of the body is to stop taking them and their holds will weaken. I believe...that someone has been poisoning the prince. I don't know if the prince has been building an immunity or not but one would believe that someone of his standing would so that must be the reason the poison he is being fed over the years doesn't weaken him as quickly as it would a normal person. But the question is, who could be poisoning him? The guy who escorted me here said that the Empress had no eyes within the palace. Then who?"

Furlan talked to his friend while gazing at his picture.

"Levi, I'm sorry but I will have to cut it short for now. I was all out of poison so even if that brat drinks it, he won't die unless...my sword comes into play. So Levi, wait and watch and I will end the life that became the cause that yours was cut short and I will make a safe space for Isabel to stay in while I join you. I will save my tears for later when I can shed them with her."

With that, Furlan left his room. Beside him was another room which had a familiar smell of sharp cleaning products but the smell was fading now. Furlan tearily laughed, assuming that the room must have been his friend's when he was here.

He rushed to the table in the gardens as he saw the one he hated with a newspaper in 'his' hand and an entire bottle of wine in another. His target looked distressed as 'he' chugged down an entire bottle of wine. The one he had poisoned.

The 'prince' faltered a few seconds later, being affected by something that was in the wine as Furlan pulled out his sword, standing right behind him now.

"What. Are. You. Doing?" The 'prince's' voice boomed with authority even at a time like this.

Furlan scoffed, "You killed him, didn't you? And why are you after her in the first place? What did she do to you?"

"Did you forget how to address a member of the Imperial Family?" The faltering 'prince' staggered, taking support from the table. 'He' knew the position 'he' was in and 'he' accepted what was happening. 'He' was trying to find a way to survive that assassination attempt.

Furlan pulled out his sword and got ready to kill, "I don't need you to answer me. You killed him and now I will kill you. Though your measly life will never amount to who he was, the pain of the poison was the least you could take. Now go on, get on your knees and beg for forgiveness."

"It seems that you are forgetting who you are speaking to," The 'prince' glared, "Put down your sword and I might consider not crucifying you."

"Why? Why should I put down my sword?" Furlan seethed, "You killed the one I loved. You are after the one I have left. Why? Because I am from the Underground? Because we do not have riches to get someone to do our dirty work? Tell me, if you prick us, do we not bleed? Then why do you push us down constantly as if that would help you go higher up? We are already at rock bottom, where else do you want us to go?"

"I believe some context will be necessary."

"It's no use explaining how sewage tastes to someone who has been fed with a silver spoon," Furlan shook his head, his entire body shaking because his mind was finally starting accept that the one he loved was dead even when his heart said no as he raised his sword at the 'prince' with only the intention to kill.

But there was a disturbance. A disturbance in 'his' blood.

A/N = Why, oh why, why, oh why, don't you want to stay with me? Why, oh why, why, oh why, are you giving up on me? I'll be waiting, waiting for you, let me hold you, under the tree-

What did the sushi say to the bee? Wasabi.

The song and the joke kinda rhymes.

And Season 1 is now over. I made a new doc, leaving my old one at 546 pages and 95,821 words. Tell me if you liked the first season and what I could have done better. Thank you for being with me this far. See you all next week.
