Levi's POV

Something, I don't know what, but it was something that took control of my body. I couldn't make sense of anything. I thought I was hallucinating when I saw him but I became sure that he was real when I saw him trying to kill the prince.

Without a second thought, or even a first one, before I could register what was happening, my body leapt forward, making my decision for me.

I thought I would be too late to stop him and too late to save him but I didn't slow down.

Furlan swung his sword at the prince and the prince, nearly unarmed in his weak condition, swung an empty bottle of wine in Furlan's direction.

Now, it is obvious who would be the victor between a sword and a bottle of wine.

But the prince was something else.

The bottle of wine shattered on the sword as glass flew everywhere, making Furlan back away and sweep right back in another second but at least the move bought some time.

And that was all I needed to get in between the prince and the sword.

"Furlan. Stop," I held Furlan's sword back as his expression changed from one of pure anger to one of disbelief.

"Levi-"

"Hold him back. Levi," The prince ordered.

"Y/N-! I mean, Your Highness!" The gloomy brat caught up with me and worriedly checked over the prince, "What happened?!"

Did she think that Y/N was in danger?

But what would she be doing out here in broad daylight?

And so it was true, the prince did take her with him through the storm.

"Just a...minor...situation. Nothing to worry about," The prince glared at Furlan who could focus on nothing but me.

"You're alive!"

"Of course I am. Did you really think I was dead? Is that what this is about?"

Furlan leapt forward and hugged me and one important thing that people should know about me is that I do not appreciate hugs.

But I made an exception this time.

"You...know him?" The prince widened his eyes as I looked at him, his face showing feelings of betrayal.

"He is...my friend from the Underground," I answered as the prince looked angry and more than that, hurt.

'What's going on here, Levi?" Furlan was confused but before I could answer, the prince made an order.

"Mikasa. Lock him up."

"Yes, Your Highness," Mikasa was hesitant to leave the prince but complied nonetheless.

"Your Highness-" I tried to object while holding on to Furlan as he held on to me, struggling away from Mikasa.

"If he wasn't your friend," The prince seethed, "He would be immediately executed by Mikasa's sword. I am locking him up because he is a threat to my life. I will not kill him and neither will I torture him. You can visit him anytime but he has to be kept restrained on my property."

"Free. Him," I glared at the prince.

"Not happening. Do you wish to challenge the palace by hurting me? Your friend's life is in Mikasa's hands. I doubt she'll be kind to him if you even attempt to lay a scratch on me."

I felt Furlan's grip leave me. Mikasa was stronger than me and was able to take my friend away from me. I knew that going after her would do Furlan no good so I stayed in front of the person making the decisions.
