Levi's POV
"Your Highness?" I politely questioned the sheltered brat in front of me even though I wanted to snap his limbs in half because he thought that he could just barge in anywhere he wanted.
He technically could though.
"I'm giving you 5 minutes to get ready. We're going for a walk outside so dress according to the weather," the prince gazed at me with his empty eyes before shutting my room's door himself to give me privacy.
Did he just say that he was going for a walk?
In the middle of the night?
And he's taking me with him?
Does he have a screw loose in there?
I picked up my warmer shirt and pants and changed into them, not wanting to make the prince wait. I had to suck up to him for a while, if I wanted to get Isabel and Furlan out of that shithole.
The prince gave me 5 minutes but I was ready in 2.
"That was fast," the prince said as I shut off my room's light and entered the hallway, closing the door behind me.
"That's what she said," we both blurted out the same thing and before I could give any reaction to it, the prince's lips curved upwards and he let out a small laugh.
I've heard something similar to that before.
The prince ushered me to follow him without giving me any further explanation.
I looked at him and observed him. Despite it being the middle of the night, he was dressed nicely. His hair was combed straight and his regal coat that he wore in the day, loosely hung on his shoulders, like it was fixed there. His shoes, polished black, his walking, straight like he wasn't tired in the least and his gaze in front of him, unwavering.
Was he naturally like that?
I tried to stop focusing on how he was dressed and instead, looked for the sense of familiarity and noticed something.
If I looked carefully enough then I could point something about him that just clicked but I couldn't put my finger on it. It was much clearer in his rumoured sister and the portraits of the father in the palace but still too less to recognize it.
"You must be wondering why I brought you of all people to have a walk with me," the prince started talking as we exited the western palace, "It was because Reiner, my personal attendant, strongly insisted that I have a guard with me. And my personal guard, Mikasa, needed her rest and shut eye to relax her eye and not lose her eyesight permanently for her left eye due to a certain deep gash she got," the prince glared at me and I could tell that he was still salty about the time I tried to kill him and injured his guard. But the tables had turned now. The prince was having trouble with me before but now I'm playing as his puppet because I can't fight him, not with the deep wounds he gave me at least, "It'll heal soon enough. A scar will remain though. And I couldn't take anyone else because they'd take pity on me."
Pity?
Why?
I questioned myself on why anyone would pity him until I realised which pathway we were walking on.
Toward the building where the prince's mother and sister were buried.
"But don't tell Mikasa though. She'll kill me if she found out that you were the one I took with me," the prince joked as he looked at the cloudy sky which showed that it would probably rain soon.
"Shouldn't that be more of a reason to tell her then? Your death will turn out to be quite profitable to me," I joked as well, causing the prince to let out an empty laugh. It didn't have much emotion but I could tell that he did find it funny. Though what I did find strange is that such a sheltered prince like him was comfortable joking about his death.
