Alex:
When I reached it, I putted my "lovely" apron on so I wouldn't mess my clothes up. I had painted a few things again. Made some kites, painted some wooden swords and such. I also needed to pull up the canvas when the rehearsal-play started. I couldn't keep myself from smiling every time I saw Susan. She looked great – as always.
The rehearsals were finished. My day was finished, so I took my stuff in the basement to go away afterwards. I had to clean some mess up - like the kites, clothes and such that were laying all over the floor.
When I suddenly heard someone talking - a female voice, I turned my head and parted my lips when I saw that it was Susan with a friend. I thought about what Nigel told me. I had to ask her out.
'He, Susan,' I greeted her friendly with a little smile on my face which became wider when she looked me straight in the eyes with the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen in my whole life - maybe except those from Nigel, but that didn't made since at the moment.
'He,' she greeted me back. It was like there appeared a little blush on her cheeks, but I could have imagine me that.
'You were great, at the play today,' I said to her while I searched for the right attitude. I felt shy and nervous, even though Nigel wasn't near me.
'Susan, we have to go. The bus already arrived,' a friend of Susan disturbed us while grabbing her hand.
'Please, wait,' I asked her with a quite desperately tone in my voice. ' This will only take a minute. Maybe less.'
I saw how Susan glanced at her friend and smiled lightly.
'You go, I'll catch you up later.'
My eyes began to sparkle when I realized that she actually stayed for me to talk to her. When her friend nodded and walked away, I glanced at Susan, pulling my hands out of my pockets.
'I wondered if you want to do something with me. Like, hanging out or so?'
Susan smiled shyish and nodded while hiding her face behind the color of her coat.
'Sure. I would love to. What about tonight? There is a new movie in the cinema, called the strangers on the train. We could go there?'
I swallowed and smiled even wider.
'Yeah. Yeah sure, that'll be great.'
Susan smiled again while nodding.
'Well, we'll see you tonight then.'
'We?' I asked when I frowned lightly.
'Oh, well, yes, we. My friends are coming too. But I can tell them that they can't, if you want.'
I hit my eyes and smiled again.
'No, no doesn't mathers. It's great. See you tonight then.'
Susan smiled again while rushing her hand through her hair.
'Yeah, see you tonight.'
I pursed my lips when I saw Susan walking away, and I felt how a cage with butterflies got released in my belly. The smile on my face couldn't disappear anymore, I was sure about that.
Nigel:
Nigel was hiding at the back, behind the many pieces of decoration for the play, despite his promise he wouldn't come spying. Alex couldn't see him, though, so he didn't think it would matter. He could hear Susan's high-pitched voice sending away her friend and smiled satisfied. Alex could be incredibly charming, when he chose to be. He could hear the movie she named to, and somehow he could see the irony of the title. Strangers on the train.. Hadn't they once been just that? Of course they weren't strangers anymore now, not at all.
Alex thought the smile couldn't possibly be wiped from his face .. He shouldn't be so sure. When Susan was gone he walked to Alex softly, staring at his back and walking like a ghost, making no sound to betray his approach. He grabbed one of the plastic swords and then stepped closer, putting the blade over Alex' shoulder suddenly, staring at him intensely.
"Here goes the trouble towarded to the king.." he said in ominous voice. He held still for a moment but then chuckled in a breath and lowered the sword. He stepped even closer, allowing the blade to glide down over Alex' shoulder down his spine.
"..Do you think she's still a virgin?"
Alex:
I replaced some things that were laying in the way and nodded softly when I noticed that everything was laying properly - not that I really cared about a thing of it. But the fact that Susan wanted to go out with me, made me suddenly a totally different person.
Suddenly I felt something on my shoulder, hearing that voice again that had been with me all night. I turned my head immediately and parted my lips because I kind of shocked because of his suddenly appearance. I pressed my jaws irritated. He shouldn't spy on me.
‘Go away,' I mumbled while replacing some other things. When he suddenly asked me if she was still a virgin, I widened my eyes and turned immediately again with my mouth opened.
'Nigel, what the fuck. Fuck off.'
Nigel:
He was staring at the entrance Susan had gone through but when Alex scolded at him he looked back at him almost surprised. It was remarkable how agitated he suddenly was now, when speaking badly of Susan. Suddenly a cheeky grin crept over Nigel's face.
"O, Jack.. Thou loves the wench." He said in a teasing swoony voice. He huffed an amused breath again but then inhaled sharply through his nose to gain back his more serious posture.
"Remember I said there was something that might be able to make you understand? Well I've got something for you.."
He lifted a big red book and pressed it against Alex chest.
"Read it.. It'll enlighten you."
Alex:
'Get your nose out of my business.'
I turned my back to him again, until I heard his swoony teasing voice. How he said that I loved Susan. I sighed and turned my body back to his.
'Just leave me alone.'
I never thought my smile could disappear so easily. But apparently Nigel was able to do that. I pursed my lips when he pressed a big red book on my chest that seemed to be a bible.
'I don't have time for this bollocks'
When he told me it would enlighten me, I pushed him away, pressing the book on his chest.
'I don't want to read your stupid book, now fuck off.'
Nigel:
Nigel's smile disappeared too now and he stared at him emotionlessly.
"It's important," he pointed out as if that would change Alex' mind instantly.
"I thought you finally wanted to know what this is all about."
Nigel was quite displeased. Apparently their truce was over after all.. And he could start over new trying to convince Alex.
"Just read it.. it's not that difficult."
Alex:
I pursed my lips as he tried to let me read the book. I didn't want to read this nonsense. Not now. I had work to do - like preparing myself for the date with Susan.
When his expression changed to emotionless, I shook my head while licking my lips.
'I'm not interested, Nigel. So go.'
I pushed him away and passed him by. I didn't want to put any effort in his stuff now. I just didn't.
Nigel:
Nigel pursed his lips dissatisfied and let his arms hangs down next to his body again. The sword still in one hand, the book in the other. He didn't try to stop Alex this time, though the urge was there.
