Alex:
I kept walking towards whatever I was going to pass in time and distance, but suddenly slowly turned as I heard someone suddenly yelling the name Jack on a way I'd never heard before. It was Nigel, though. I knew that immediately. I could feel his presence near me. I clenched my teeth and looked at the ground, slowly turning my entire body as I saw how Nigel came closer, armed with a gun. When I met Nigel his eyes, I saw how he pointed the gun at me, staring daring like he was about to shoot me any moment. I swallowed and lifted my chin a bit, chocking and tilting my head as I sighed.
'It's over Nigel,' I replied him calmly, hard enough for him to hear it through the sound of the rain and thunder. I’d given up on everything. A rush went through my body when I saw the train coming closer in the distance behind Nigel, though I didn't showed it. I had a plan, perhaps. I moved my feet a little bit back as Nigel kept coming closer, aiming his gun at me on a focused way like he had done this so many times before. Like I were a pray... A bird who was about to get shot any moment.
Nigel:
Nigel continued to walk closer at a fast pase, fixing his hawky eyes on Alex with every movement, without ever interrupting his focused stare.
"It'll never be over.. You know that."
He saw Alex moving back faster now, trying to keep distance between them. It annoyed Nigel. "Stop it, Jack"
He didn't want distance. Not now. Not now they were so close mentally. And Alex encouraging him to shoot in such a nonchalant tone didn't approve matters.
"Stop walking away, Jack.." he warned him, as if he was really going to shoot him. He knew it was an empty thread, though. This became clear for Alex as well he stumbled over the track of the now nearing train. Nigel widened his eyes slightly, his voice becoming only slightly less convincing. This wasn't according to his plan. This was wrong. Not supposed to happen.
"Get off the track." he ordered. But it was futile. This was the moment after all. He knew it would come and even though he hated it, it's what he wanted to. Alex took control of the situation. Alex was the leader, and he was not taking commands of his own weapon. But he hád to get him off the track. Alex could nót die.
"I showed you the card remember, it's written for eternity.." he tried, silently begging him to get him off the track. Nigel would sweat nervously, if it wasn't for the rain washing it away instantly. But Alex wouldn't budge.. For a brief moment, less than a second, Nigel considered doing nothing. Letting Alex and his ungrateful mouth parish in front of him. Let all his dreams and all his responsibilities fall from his shoulders. He could have a normal life. .. But no, he wouldn't. He could never fight fate, that was impossible. He had to do it for the sake of all. He was needed, after all.
He locked his jaw and hissed through his teeth, as he looked at the train which was already dangerously close. He hád to risk it. He lowered the gun and grabbed the collar of Alex' soaked shirt, pulling him off the track forcefully.
