Since I first introduced Joseph to Ash almost a year ago, I have fallen more and more in love with him. Joe moved into our home after a few months, and Ash is now one year and seven months old. We didn't want to rush Ash into calling him Dad because she hadn't known Joe for very long, but he ended up being the best dad to her.
I could tell Ash missed Joseph when he was away at work because she kept checking the door for signs that he had returned yet. I reassured my daughter that Joe would be home soon as I rocked her in my arms.
When the front door opened, Joseph entered.
He moved near us and said, "I'm home."
I whispered, "welcome home Joey," and then I kissed his lips.
He picked up my daughter and said, "Hey Ash," before turning to me.
She hugged him and said, "Daddy, you're home."
Joe and I both widened our eyes.
He drew nearer to her chest, whispering, "Yes Ash, I'm home."
A huge smile grew on my face as I watched the pair.
