Now that they had declared their love for each other, and shown it to each other with their bodies, they began to feel uneasy at what was coming.  They would have to say goodbye again, but now Fillun would be going away farther than he was when he was in the abbey.  Also there was no plan to spend a short time with the knights: he needed to spend a considerable period of time training with them.  So they were both feeling sad at having to say goodbye again.

Fillun had decided that he would join up with the knights and learn to fight and all the other things that went with it.  Bonnar was satisfied with the decision, but sad to see him go again, just when they had come to a happy point in their relationship, and when they could be open and share their hearts.

After the training with the knights, the plan would be to get an army together and march on Velastria, and take back the palace and establish the monarchy once more, with safety for the royal family and a plan to rule as king.

The choice of king was obvious as this was laid down in Velastria's laws for hundreds of centuries - king to king's son, and so on.  So Fillun was the natural heir to the throne.  But would he be allowed to take it, would he be safe, and how could they live their relationship in the open?

They decided they needed some more time alone, and decided to spend a few more days in the mountains, with the horsemen, and maybe make some plans while they were there, and talk about the future.

Bonnar had sent a letter to Fillun's grandmother in the meantime, suggesting that now might be a good time to visit her grandson, if she could travel to the north of the country.  A town called Zoroastria was associated with the royal family and they had special welcome and protection there, as well as being close to Bonnar's mountain lodge which was just on the other side of the mountains into Cavonia.

Bonnar thought that the royal family would need protection for this visit and had requested some knights from the temple to be sent to the capital of Velastria, to travel with them.  This had been agreed when the Knight Chevalier had visited, so the knights were already on their way, and would make themselves known to the royal family, before making preparations for the visit.

With all this ahead, they packed and travelled to the mountain lodge, and as usual the two horsemen were coming with them.  The two men were of interest to Bonnar because he knew they alone could understand the relationship he had with Fillun, and would protect it.  So he decided to propose that they would travel with Fillun to train as knights.

They discussed this at the mountain lodge, Bonnar also feeling a little happier that they would be with Fillun while he was away and to protect him from any danger while travelling or while at the temple.

There was no decision as to when Fillun and the horsemen would leave for the temple, but they knew that this was coming and so they all had a sense that their time together was special because things would change after now, maybe even in ways they could not know or expect.

So they all spent most of the time together and got to know each other very well.  Bonnar suggested that the horsemen become a sort of special protection to Fillun, who was more than happy to accept this.  The friendship between the four was growing and they got to know each other's character and personal history very well.

While they were at the mountain lodge, a letter came from Fillun's grandmother.
