During the night at Zargreb, Bonnar woke Fillun up gently. "Fillun, wake please"

Fillun pushed himself up in the bed, rubbing tired eyes in the light of the candle.

"What is it?" he asked. He had heard the serious tone in Bonnar's voice

"It's your grandmother. She's not well," said Bonnar quietly.

Fillun got worried. "How is she?" he asked in worry.

"I'm afraid to tell you she has passed away," he replied tenderly.

Fillun let out a loud sob and held on to Bonnar as he cried. "No, not her too!"

After some time Fillun looked at Bonnar and asked, "What happened?"

Bonnar's voice went deep. "The soldiers at the palace have become suspicious and wanted to know that was happening from your Grandmother. Under the stress of questioning, she had a heart attack. They called the doctor but she was already dead".

"Oh no!" sobbed Fillun. "My only living relative. What will I do?"

"My love you have me for all your life. I promise you that solemnly now" replied Bonnar.

A knock at the door was heard. "Fillun? What's wrong?" came the call through the door.

"Come in!" said Bonnar. As Ross and Tarn came through the door, they had worried faces."What's wrong?" they asked again.

Now Fillun replied. "My grandmother is dead," he replied, breaking into a sob.

All four hugged closely as Fillun cried. Until morning they discussed how they could get Fillun to the capital in Velastria without the enemy finding out.

All four travelled to the Knights Temple, staying overnight in Zoroastria on the way. Picking up four more knights to accompany them, they all left their knights' tunics there, and went disguised as simple horsemen, carrying food to the capital for the royal palace.
