Fillun's point of view
Today we came to the mountains. Not like before when Bonnar brought me from the palace, I rode then inside his cloak, but he told me after that it was for safety so I wasn't seen, and they rode during the night back then.
Because it still isn't safe we rode by night but it was only 2 hours to the mountain lodge from the castle. And we all have fast horses and are good horsemen. So we galloped up into the mountains, only stopping once so the horses could drink at a river. We took a little whisky to give us strength.
When we got to the mountain lodge the servants had prepared a late supper. The horsemen came to have dinner with us. I like them, their names are Ross and Tarn. They understand what's happened between me and Bonnar, and I think they have a similar relationship.
We laughed and joked and stayed up late talking, not making any plans but talking about our travels back and forth and how much they have travelled into Velastria these last few years, bringing letters and messages back and forth.
They say that they like to travel together because it gives them space and time. I think they mean space and time together, to be together. I understand what they mean. And I think I understand why Bonnar trusts them, and why he brought them with us. And also why he treats them a little bit different from most of the staff in the castle. I mean, he's not unkind, or cross, with anyone, just he's a little bit more friendly and trusting with these two guys.
Not like the other times, this time me and Bonnar are in the same room, his room. The horsemen are in the room I used to sleep in for the last few years. From the sound they made I think they enjoyed the room and not the views! But we made our own bit of noise too. The maid looked at me funny at breakfast today.
We're going out riding, all four of us, later in the day, just taking our time now. I think that this time is really special and I sense that Bonnar wants it to be time just for us, us together, the way we've never been together before.
And that suits me just fine.
