The key piece was to get a message to Fillun's aunt without it being intercept by the Cavonian soldiers. The quarters in the palace where his aunt's family stayed, was guarded by the guards of the palace. These guards were directly loyal to the Royal family. This was a good sign, because only the outside of the palace was guarded by Cavonian soldiers. There was no expectation that any member of staff working for the Royal family would be infiltrating the palace in a way that would threaten the current status quo.

Ross and Tarn were chosen to dress up in the uniform of palace guards, and this was not difficult given that they were confirmed as being royal Horsemen. The way that this was achieved was through the confidence of Bonnar, who was a well respected Ally of the royal family and whose family had been allied to the Royal family for generations past.

Fillun had decided to write a little poem that he knew as a child, as his aunt used to read it to him, sent in a spirit of consolation to his aunt. He knew it would stir memories as it was a poem she used to read to him when he was a child.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird, fly
Blackbird, fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird, fly
Blackbird, fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Fillun smiled to himself as he folded the paper. No signature, but written in his handwriting which he knew his aunt would recognise. The key line was "You were only waiting for this moment to arise" which his aunt had explained was his destiny when he would be king.

Now he just had to wait for a response. Ross and Tarn were told not to give any information about the sender just that they had been given the message in confidence by someone who came to the door of the palace. This way his aunt would not know he was inside the palace gates.

Ross and Tarn gave the message to the guards at the door to the apartment of Fillun's aunt. They had been told to wait for a reply.

The aunt came to the door and took the message and thanked them. She said she would write a reply. When she went to her room - knowing instinctively that this was a confidential and important message - she read it impatiently. Next thing, she fainted.
