Some days had passed. Fillun's inner circle had travelled from Zoroastria on to Bonnar's estate once more, first so that Bonnar could manage his estate; but also to have a chance to plan their next entry to the capital of Velalastria.
Fillun's aunt had returned to the palace, and had a conversation with her husband and children. She explained that there was a possibility of there being a more direct line descendant to take the throne. They pushed her to reveal who it was, but she would not say. While she had not agreed with her husband that either her son or daughter would become the new monarch, it was certainly something that they had high hopes for, and these hopes were now dashed. However, she was strong in her resolution, and explained that by law, the closest member of the Royal family to the direct line of succession, should be the next monarch, irrespective of what any of them would like to happen.
After this, Fillun's aunt had been a little cautious about what her husband might do to tell the Clavonian soldiers, so she had a very direct and honest conversation with her husband that night.
While he pressed her to reveal the identity of the family member that would take over the monarchy, she said that this was not the time for this, and moved the conversation forward.
He promised her he would stay loyal and she understood from his promise that he would keep his word and not tell any of this to the soldiers.
The next job that she had to do was to convince her son and daughter that revealing their plans would be a bad idea. Even with the best will in the world, these people were not necessarily well versed in the ways of court and laws, and she felt it would be better if they were out of sight. This way they would not reveal the secret, even accidentally.
She decided to make a family trip together to another part of the country, and returned earlier by herself, so that she could meet Fillun in the palace.
After returning from Cavonia, the four horsemen arrived at the palace, and took back their positions as horsemen and guards in the royal families staff.
They stayed as before in the staff quarters, and ate the staff kitchen. What Fillun's aunt wanted to do next was to understand how they could present him as being the new king, and how they could do this without their being violence or an attack on the palace.
While they were waiting to decide on how to do this, Bonnar and the Chief Knight had already given the instruction for a number of the newly-trained soldiers to assemble at the border with Cavonia, and protect the border from entry by Cavonian soldiers.
In addition, they created conflict in a city which was a few hours away from the capital, and where the Cavonian soldiers could not return quickly. This was to make sure that when the new soldiers of the new National Velastrian Army arrived at the palace, the soldiers would be overtaken quite quickly, without a chance for them to fight.
Fillun's aunt insisted on having a private conversation with the elders of the government, without referring to who she had chosen to be the new monarch, so that she would have a free reign to be able to negotiate the entry of Fillun. The members of the government found her lack of honesty about the name of the new monarch a little concerning, but they understood that there was a difficult situation because of the circumstances.
There was a certain loyalty to Cavonia from some members of the government, and Fillun's aunt was well aware of this.
By the time that her husband and children had returned from their stay away, Fillan's aunt had obtained written agreement from the members of the government to make a peaceful transition to the new monarch. This was then presented to the Cavonian army. They who were pressing her for a name, but which she refused to give at the time. The communication went back to Cavonia that there was concern at lack of full transparency by Fillun's aunt.
However because the soldiers were not able to cross the border, and the other soldiers were mostly involved in resolving the conflict that had been created outside the capital, the Cavonian leaders decided that Fillun's aunt should negotiate the entry of the new monarch.
However this was conditional on the acceptance by the new monarch that they should sign and swear and oath of loyalty to Cavonia as a first matter of loyalty, and in priority over their loyalty to the country of Velastria. When she received the letter confirming the details she smiled at the last point and thought "Oath of allegiance for now, but war in the future".
