Pulling to the curb sharply I opened the door and practically shoved it shut before walking into the boxing gym that Taz owned.
I was mad, actually that was an understatement I was seething. Sebastian Maravich had decided today was a good day to test me, along with I knew that a few of my guys were killed their bodies were found in the Hudson River and the police were looking to find who it was.
How could my gang have been so careless.
I didn't authorize murder but I knew it was either Demetri who was a killer and I'd often had to check him, other times it was a rival but there was no one who could directly challenge us, so if they were separate I might believe it but all of them together simply told me I'd have to put Demetri back in line and I didn't want to have to deal with one of my best capo's.
He did good keeping everyone else in line but now things had to be filled in we were going to have to work harder to stay under the radar, and I didn't want that at all, we didn't have to be sneaky because all of our behaviour was just discreet enough to hide it all but now I would genuinely have to be more active in this when I had better things to be doing then trying to manage other people.
Getting to the shelf I found my stuff and changed before taking the roll of wrapping before I began expertly using it to cover my hands.
I had a specific way I'd learnt that meant I could hold the glove without feeling like my hand was stiff especially since I could go for hours.
Taking the black gloves I had I slipped them on before I found Taz shadowboxing in the middle of the ring.
"You're back, time to ruin another bag" he jokes.
"Not today Taz" I say getting to the black waterbag he had. I had been here often enough that I knew where all the bags were and could find them with relative ease.
Naturally I fell into my stance paying attention to punching the bag and using only my shoulders to start with then working my way down as a way of warming up along with moving my feet.
I loved doing this it was my escape but currently I was finding myself here more in front of a bag or wishing I was to relieve my stress.
When I stopped I progressed to to the back corner where Taz had a gym and stripped the gloves from my hands before progressing to cycling through working out my upper body.
Taz had seen me turn myself from a scrawny fourteen year old to a rather well built sixteen year old by showing up at this gym everyday for two years straight. In many ways he wasn't just my trainer he was a father figure to me since I had asked him to help me with my anger and he agreed.
I still remember the others that came here and thought they could best Taz in the ring. No one got close and I was often challenged to step into the ring but unknownst to them I was here everyday training and Taz knew by now that I was one of the better boxers in his gym just because I was here so often.
When I was finally done I checked what time it was and saw that I had been here for several hours and now it was nine PM at night. Every muscle in my body was in pain and ached, I also had a pulsing headache, and was at the end of my ability to deal with people. Mostly what I wanted to do was tell Elijah to pick me up and loading up some guns and taking them to the range.
"Where are you going now?" Taz asks.
"Probably the gun range, I want to practice my marksmanship" I admit walking across the room to my shelf before changing back into my clothing, and drying my hair leaving it how it settled atop my head.
"And I will be going home if you're heading out, have a good night Adrian" Taz says.
"You too" I say politely before leaving the building and unlocking my car before driving off towards Brooklyn.
I had messaged Elijah who said he would do that and was on his way to get me so I had to speed up in order to get there in time.
As I crossed into Manhattan I took the fastest route I knew though the city though because of the lack of people I had relative ease doing so before taking the top exit into Brooklyn before heading down through the less busy urban residential areas until I got back to my house.
Pulling into the garage I spotted the G-Wagon my bodyguards used before I quickly parked and ran the key upstairs before going up to my room to grab a black hoodie and then come back downstairs.
As I walked down to the vehicle Elijah nodded to me before I rounded to the passenger side and slipped inside the vehicle.
"Mr. Winters am I taking you to the usual range".
"Yes, and you can call me by my name Elijah, my surname can be used in much more formal settings" I say looking out the window as he drives us off towards the range we typically went to.
"Why do you only want it used selectively?".
"Because I don't believe I'm any better then you or anyone else, so I only use formalities when they are socially required" I reply dismissing that I also was reminded of my father.
And I simply didn't like being reminded of him there were memories ones I buried good and bad to save myself mentally.
I knew what I'd done and it was selfish to keep myself fine but never acknowledging that I had to deal with my traumas and the years of events that changed who I was.
Now I just seeked ways to escape from it all. Buying cars and taking care of them, going boxing and focusing on all the needs I had along with my staff.
Eventually when we got to the range Elijah parked and we both walked to the back before grabbing what we wanted and walked inside.
Our worked out deal was he drove and I paid for the event it was just how we had agreed to do outings like this.
Getting our spot I was the first one to start as we often raced to put together the first one as a challenge to one another, he could beat me for a while but like with most things people weren't better then me at much.
Hearing the click of the magazine, I pulled the hammer and fired five successive shots at the exact same spot tearing the paper target slightly before I stopped and set the gun down.
"Impressive" Elijah says as we took off the ear covers and pressed the button to bring the targets closer.
"I swear every time you come here you do better and better" he adds pointing between our targets.
"I had a lot of time to get good at this" I muse before moving from a pistol to a rifle, and preparing to fire a shot something that I got good at doing from standing still.
The first shot immediately was surrounded by red as I hit the target in the head then the knees, and then each lung.
"Prefer the knee for defense it makes it so the person can't go anywhere easily" Elijah says.
"Noted if I ever need it" I shrug.
I doubt I would not many people have tried to hurt me and this was like boxing something I did for fun.
Though I'd admit I had a handgun that I legally shouldn't.
"Take a far target. Shoulder shots the end of the clavicle if possible" Elijah instructed and calmly I reloaded before finding the farthest target from me and adjusting the scope slightly before pulling the trigger and using the scope to see of I made the shot.
One down.
Shifting slightly, I zoomed in slightly more and cleared up the image before repeating the action.
"That wasn't difficult" I say emptying the gun and checking it whilst Elijah brought the target closer.
"I can't believe that you hit the exact spots" Elijah says and I just give a ghost of a smile to my bodyguard.
"I have requirements for my PPO's this was where my accuracy one came in" I explain and he seemed rather amused before we both reloaded and continued picking off targets till it was time for the range to close.
I had a stressful day so I'm surprised this is early but oh well, comment, vote, and share. AnywaysPeace✌
