As the school day ended I walked out of the front doors of the school, and immediately spotted my mom's car parked curbside.

The Bianca situation was also freely talked about amongst the school, and the sight of her mom's Porsche driving away was a little bit of a welcome surprise by most of the school since everyone had been a victim of her at one point or another.

Opening the back door I dropped my bag, and then got into the front seat where I heard my mom still on a call before she drove off.

"Okay so keep the patient on a slowly decreasing dose, then allow them to wake up, when they have prescribe them anti-swelling medication to keep scar tissue from becoming too dense around the heart" my mom says into the phone.

"Okay I have that written down anything else you would like me to do" a nurse on the other end replies.

"No, I'm just going to take my daughter home, then I'll be back".

"Alright Faith see you in a little bit".

"Bye" mom says before hanging up and tossing her phone into her purse which was by my feet.

"Hi mom" I say.

"Hi Olivia, how was school?".

"It was alright this morning didn't start out good though" I admit because I know she got a call from my principal.

"Is that because you had to go to the office?".

"Yes, I imagine she told you about the event between me and Bianca".

"Yes, I told her that I wouldn't be punishing you for defending yourself and your friends" my mom says.

"Thanks" I say, "how has your day been?" I add.

"Good just having to do the set up for post open heart surgery which I just finished then I have I think one more surgery for today" she says.

"What kind" I ask.

"Iliac-Aorta Bypass" she replies turning towards Bedford and speeding up to the appropriate speed.

"Oh fun" I mutter. The weird thing about my mom was that she very quick to support me no matter what I did and I had always appreciated it, so I had even seen what her day looked like at one point, yes I wasn't allowed in the surgical room but it was definitely interesting to see just how high speed the medical world was and I loved it.

As we got to the main highway that had to be crossed I spotted similar cars to the one's I'd seen at work the other day, though there wasn't a black vehicle amongst them.

"What must people think when they give their children such expensive cars, look at them you can see that they are all young" my mom comments.

"I would imagine that the bank card goes missing and the kid comes home with one, or they just take a key and whatever car it unlocks that's the one they drive that day" I reply.

"Would make sense, though their parents probably worked hard to spoil them like that. I'd do it too if I could" my mom says and I smile at the idea though I know it will never happen.

The rest of the drive home we listened to music while singing horribly alone to it and smiling from the knowledge of how stupid we both must look while doing so.

When my mom slowed to a stop next to our house I got out, and grabbed my bag swinging it onto my back.

"I love you mom, I'll see you tonight" I say waving to her after shutting the door and getting inside before she drove off.

Dropping my bag by the door my first reaction was to go into the kitchen and make some form of snack though I couldn't really pick what I wanted to have.

I then opened a bunch of the cupboards before deciding to just have ice cream. I had my own tub that I had bought so I guess I was entitled to have it whenever I wanted.

Once I had found a spoon I connected my phone to the speakers of the kitchen I started to sing along to the songs that randomly played from my Spotify recommended feed.

As I finally finished cleaning the kitchen I opened the back doors of the house and walked out onto the deck and sat down on the steps looking out to the garden around the back area of the house. My mom had planted dozens of flowers along with my grandma around the backyard until it was bright and vibrant.

I remembered sitting back here and staring at the flowers not really doing anything but admiring them for periods of time. Other times I drew them in my notebooks.

Now I sat staring at them while eating a tub of Häagen Dazs which probably wasn't the most healthy thing to do but oh well I didn't feel like doing much else and there wasn't much else to do anyways.

Suddenly the music from the kitchen cut off and I stood rushing into the room to find my phone with Demetri's name shining across it.

Answering the call I put him on speaker before shutting the back doors of the house and locking them.

"Hi Oli" he says sounding gleeful.

"Hi Demi what's up?" I ask putting the lid on my ice cream.

"Not much were you eating Häagen Dazs again?".

The question that should have been simple and innocent came off as accusatory in an undermining kind of way.

"Yes" I reply slowly nervous of if he will start yelling at me.

"How much did you have this time" he asks sounding suddenly amused and the bipolarity of how fast his way of talking changed would have gave someone whiplash if it was personified in motion.

"Like half the tub" I say honestly.

"Will you at least eat dinner?" he asks.

"Yeah" I say and I hear him hum.

"Okay, well I am proud of you for sticking up for yourself today, just you could have jeopardized your future doctor career" he says sounding concerned.

Demetri had known that I had big ambitions but I also planned to work my ass off to get it so I could see what he was getting at considering one single thing that mentioned me getting in a fight meant that I wouldn't be getting into med school.

"Yeah but you can't tell me she didn't deserve it".

"No she did" he agrees and I smile lightly, happy that he was on my side.

"Oh and I burned my food I have to go" he says

"Okay bye".

"I love you".

"I love you too".

Then the phone cut off and my music continued to play as I slipped the tub of ice cream into the freezer before thinking about why I was so nervous about Demetri's response to me having something as simple as ice cream, and why did I care so much?

Just ignore it.

So that was what I did, and unplugged my phone before heading upstairs to watch Euphoria in my room and wait until my mom got home so that we could decide what we wanted for dinner. And as the episodes began cycling through I forgot my instinctual inquisitiveness about Demetri.

So yes I know I said this book would be the longest I've ever written breaking a hundred chapters which it will, so I'm giving you all pieces of Demetri's true nature as this is what happened before the rest of the series. Comment, vote, and share. Anyways

Peace
