I needed to do something, not because I felt forced to but because I owed it to my friends.
They had warned me of what Demetri was up to, and all the times Paris had threatened to get rid of him. I should have seen the signs and asked more. I also started my first actual relationship like that. With toxic behaviour. I hadn't really seen how of why so many girls didn't really trust guys. That also had to do with me never really having an issue with them before and if there was, my friends backed me up when I told them off.
I didn't realize that I needed the empowerment piece of knowing I could defend myself. But even if I did know that dark looking guys still freaked me out since all of my bad experiences were with them.
Walking downstairs I walked into the living room and found my mom reading a Jodi Picoult novel.
"Hey mom I have something I need to do but I need to get to Manhattan to see Angela and Paris".
"How are you getting there?" she asks.
"I told them I'd meet them there so I was wondering if you could drive there".
My mom then dog earred her book and set it down on the coffee table before standing and getting her keys for us to go towards Manhattan.
Walking out of the house we got into the car and headed towards Manhattan where I soon spotted the building in SoHo where Angela lived and waited to see her Tesla curbside before being sure she was home, though it also seemed Paris's Mercedes was also there.
I actually thought the brick buildings in New York looked very cozy and home like. Sort of like the place I would envision for myself but at the same time I also didn't really want to be in the middle of one of the most busy cities in the world.
Pulling my attention back to the crowded sidewalks and roads of NYC I watched my mom parallel park and I opened the door before looking back at her.
"Thanks mom, I'll probably ask one of the girls to drive me back home" I say with a smile before taking a step out of the car.
"If not just call or text me I'll drive here to get you" my mom says before I nod and shut the door walking off to the front door of the building and being let in my a small group of people leaving the apartment complex before crossing the room and leaning against one of the pillars while I waited for Angela to come down so I could be let up to the apartment.
When the doors opened I walked in only to be hugged by Paris.
"Hi Olivia" she says, and I just cast a look to Angela who smiled lightly as the doors closed and we began to be carried up to the floor Angela lived on.
"Hey Paris, when did you get so huggy?" I ask once she'd let go, giving me the chance to look at her.
"I am just in a good mood" she says and I look to Angela who was avoiding eye contact with me slightly.
"You two were probably making out before I arrive" I muse.
"No" Angela says flushing slightly and I just smiled lightly while Paris shrugged like it wasn't that big of a deal to have been caught doing something affectionate which I found a little amusing.
"Yes we were" Paris corrects staring pointedly at her girlfriend. Paris I always knew was the more direct one while Angela was much more a soft neutral person. She could be affectionate but tended to stay out of dramatic situations which always made me question why she wanted to go into finance where stress was all that she would feel.
"At least someone was clearly honest" I tease looking at Angela with a sly smile.
"Shush I am allowed to feel embarrassed" she defends as the elevator car slowed.
