My wish didn't come true.
Of course it didn't.
Walking out of school at the end of the day I see Sebastian and his chrome navy blue BMW I8.
He stood leaning against his car eyeing the Pagani I'd driven to school in and giving it a good look over.
I guess I'll be a rich prick for once.
"Maravich are you aware that most people don't like their cars being looked at?" I implore stuffing my hands in my pocket where the key fob for my car was.
"Yeah well there are only a few people who have the money for these things Winters".
"I'm aware" I say pulling out the fob and unlocking the car which also opened on command.
"What the fuck!" he exclaims stepping back from my car as all the panels opened.
"I can control a lot with a key fob" I say pressing the button again to close all the flaps along with get into the car pressing the start button I put the car in reverse and back up out of my spot and head off towards the exit of the school where I saw Sav get into her family's car to be driven home.
Me and the boys were going to the Hamptons for the night and I genuinely couldn't wait to get there speeding off I quickly made my way to Brooklyn Bridge, and drove across it with the boys not far behind me.
When we finally got out onto Long Island I picked up my speed knowing full well this far out I could pretty much get away with whatever I wanted, doing seventy-five in a sixty was one such thing.
The drive was actually peaceful to me, and in the end I had relaxed into being on the road. There was just something about going fast along this highway while listening to music that put me at ease. I imagined what it would be like to do this in ten years when I had a life separate from the hectic lifestyle that Thornbrook students often lived. I had seen the things that school did on Friday's almost two hundred people were at parties every Friday it was just how it was we were all a little crazy and that was why I didn't like going to them.
It's why I avoided them actually.
I had been proud of myself for lessening the habit I had I was with someone for one, and two my connection to Sav's downstairs attendees had also diminished as a way to protect myself from all the bad things I'd done and the people who had driven me to use those lengths as an escape.
The worst part was the amount of times I'd wanted a different escape, a final escape, a way to leave life and never have to come back, but I couldn't do that to the people who cared about me.
When I finally got to the gate of my house I pulled in and found that Elijah had left my LaFerrari out by the garage leaving me to put it back. He did have access to my cars he just chose to do this out of respect and knowledge that I didn't typically like it when people were in my garage.
Pulling into the garage I backed my car into its new spot before walking out to my LaFerrari and doing the same being careful not to let the car come near any other vehicle so it didn't get damaged.
Couldn't damage a new vehicle.
Walking out of the garage I watched my friends park whilst I used the code to close the garage and walked up to the front door.
I would as usual have to tell them the secondary master bedroom was off limits and likely always would be for everyone.
Pushing open the door the chatter of Hunter and Riley bothering one another along with body checking each other as they made their way to the door and walked into the house.
"If you idiots have a pillow fight I will harm one of you" I say walking over to the living room and turning on the lights before turning on the fireplace.
"How did you make a modern house seem so welcoming?" Riley asks looking around.
They'd all been here before I just know that my house seemed more like a show home.
"Ambient lighting, and artwork. I actually hate that it's hyper modern" I say, "I've been designing a new one to be put on this property instead" I reply entering the kitchen.
For the past few months I'd been saving the money for materials, and all the prepping was being done but it would have to start in a year time.
I wanted the house to truly feel like a home so I would have to change that. Alter it to be how I wanted.
Filling a glass with water I walked back into the living room where Hunter and Riley still were teasing one another.
Of bloody course.
Pushing open the back door I walked out onto the patio and sat down on the edge of the hot tub.
Rolling up my jeans I then dipped my feet into the water and sat staring off at the ocean that in the distance I could see white caps. I also wished I could be on my yacht but the Skoteino had been winterized for New York's yacht marina not the open ocean which it could handle I just couldn't let it go to fast because I had deck crew.
So here I sat and for a moment my mind was at peace not having to focus on or manage anything that was too important and I was perfectly okay with that.
Me not having to think was like a blessing because it meant being separate from all the various things I had to figure out and deal with on the daily.
With help from Nico I babysat the boys, did extra school to remain ahead, planned how to deal with Demetri's carelessness, and plot how to reorganize my parents company when Winters Group Tower was done being built.
"Adrian, you good mate?" Nico asks and I turn to look at him as he walked over to where I sat.
"It's quiet out here" I state raising my glass to my lips.
"I didn't ask how the weather was I asked if you were okay" the hazelnut brown haired boys says nearing the hot tub.
"You asked me if I was good?".
"Don't be literal" he shoots back.
"I'm fine Nicholas" I reply being one of the few times I ever used his actual name.
"If you're not you can talk about it".
"I'm escaping my mind out here, currently I don't fucking care what's going on in there" I say rather harshly. I don't want to be but in order for Nico to leave me be I had to.
"Okay" he sighs sitting next to me in the fetal position.
"Go inside make sure the boys behave, I'm fine out here, I'll be in, in a few".
He didn't speak, he just looked at me and for a moment I felt like he knew but also knew to let me have my time to tell him if I ever did.
Nico then stood and walked back the door of the house casting me one final look before going inside and shutting the door leaving me to my silence accompanied by my demons.
