Waking up the next morning I could still feel the burning from the salts in my tears on my face still, my pillow slightly damp from it though it could also have been the draft that was softly blowing through my window filling the room with a cold comparable to if one left the fridge and freezer open for a week with all the windows and doors shut so it could cool a house.
Rolling over I pushed the blanket off of me and stood before going to get clothing since I would likely make coffee then go down to the lake to enjoy the early morning fog.
Putting on black jeans, and a light grey crewneck before brushing my hair to look how I wanted and walked downstairs to make coffee.
Coffee was practically a life necessity for me as most days it got me to actually have motivation let alone function for the day. Which most times only lasted until lunch when I couldn't give a fuck any longer.
Pulling out four mugs I took the usual one I typically chose, and stood leaning against the counter thinking about last night which was when I walked out to the garage where I stared across the three car garage just to check that Sav hadn't moved one of my cars to sneak her Maserati into the garage. I then opened the doors and her car wasn't in the driveway next to my Brabus or anywhere around the motor court.
She actually left.
Shutting the doors I walked back through the house and up to her room where the bed lay messy from where she had clearly aggressively packed and then swiftly left.
I would be expecting an argument for when she saw me next but I honestly didn't care. I wouldn't press charges. But if she wanted to then I'd flip it on her but until then I couldn't give a shit this was my vacation home and I wasn't going to let one thing ruin it for me.
Filling a mug with coffee and making it how I normally enjoyed the beverage I walked to the back door and opened it carefully to not have the door make almost any noise before heading down through the morning fog to the dock where I could look out over water and be at peace.
Dipping my feet into the water the cool glassy water that seemed to be hazy though it was only the reflection of the low mist that gave the look. The trees around the parameter of the lake stood like shadowy guards there branches alert to the winds movements shielding the homes dotted in the trees from easy sight and the wafting air's touch. I could hear the fish occasionally jumping from the water making distant occasional splashes that drifted to my ears alerting me to the life around me.
I'd admit that I often shut my eyes and laid on the wood to listen to the world, which may have been one of the only times I was at peace. The world was just too hectic for me and I couldn't deal with the chaos of everyone else to save my soul.
That's because you hate nearly everyone.
I let out a scoff at my thought and sat up a small smile on my lips as I took a sip of my coffee before my ears alerted me to someone walking along the path to the dock.
"Am I allowed to join you?" Nico asks and I turn to see him in vertical stripe pants and a long sleeved shirt whilst he held his mug in one hand and in the other was a muffin that he likely took from my pantry.
"Yes, of course you are" I say moving over before he sat down beside me where we remained in permeating silence as natures melodies filled our ears save for the sips of coffee we took.
"Why did you come down here to find me?" I ask staring straight over the water watching a hawk of some sort circle above the water likely looking for a high swimming fish just beneath the surface of the water.
"I heard you and Sav fighting last night, and considering she was muttering under her breathe as she went to pack I'm taking it was a bad one so I was checking in on you. I tried to yesterday but you didn't answer the door so I let you be" Nico says taking a sip of his drink.
"I'm fine just a little off after yesterday night, and no I will not tell you what happened" I say setting the empty mug down behind me.
"Okay want to explain why Sav left so quickly?".
"I told her to leave because of what she did, and I also told her if she didn't I'd call the police to escort her out".
"Does that also include pressing charges for the bruise on your face?" Nico prys with raised eyebrows and I quickly took out my phone and used the camera to see the purplish handprint that covered the left side of my face and even looked tender.
"I'm going to have to ice it to get the bruise to go away without getting terrible" I sigh pocketing my phone.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you take an anti-inflammatory and iced it if it would go away faster" Nico says looking at the bruise with his lips pressed together for a split second before looking away.
"Up to you though" he adds.
"I may take your advice see where it gets me?" I relent before standing up and turning to my friend.
"It might be a boat day once the idiots get out of bed of course".
"Don't hold your breath, my guess is twelve at the best".
"I'd say that sounds about right. And unlike them I will actually let them sleep, though I should deal with what's going on with my face" I laugh at least finding humour in the fact that I had a bruise on my face all morning and never noticed.
"That would probably be a good idea so they don't ask about it though they did hear" Nico advises.
"I was slapped what does it look like" I dryly remark to absolutely no one and I hear Nico crack a laugh as we walked back up the lawn past the firepit towards the steps that would lead to the living room back door.
So these ones are short it's simply just because I had key points written down to separate the whole thing, also keep in mind this will be the longest book I will likely ever write on this app so I will ask for slack in that regard. Comment, vote, and share. AnywaysPeace✌
