09: What To Make Of It

The entire night I was tossing and turning. Mostly from the discomfort from the bruises.

I was able to keep my eyes closed the entire time but my mind was elsewhere.

The heat is really starting to get to me and the fact that I can't hear my fan is really not helping.

I get up, rub my eyes, and head downstairs but after a few steps, I feel my legs not moving anymore.

Opening my eyes I find the building split in half, the sky is yellow from the smoke and the rubble all around.

"Wha- what happened?" I say to myself in worry.

I jump off the ledge and float to the ground floor. There's nothing left of this building anymore.

I start making my way to the Terren. It should still be standing, it was designed to withstand any attack and destruction.

I walk by countless bodies, some I know and others were just regular people I see on the streets. What happened here?

Once I get to the Terren the doors are locked and are guarded with apocalyptic wards. The others must be alive since this can only be done by the hands of the unified witches.

The only bad thing is I don't know how to break it down and it's not like I can just force my way in.

I walk around the building to look for any way in, a window, a door, or anything that would allow a hole in the ward.

I do find an open window at the back of the building. I create my own set of stairs with the heavy objects around me and get in.

Of course, I'm not that skinny to fit into the open slip but I manage, sucking in my gut and falling onto the ground when I get in.

Getting up I dust myself off and someone grabs me and shoves me against the wall holding a knife to my throat.

"Jordan?" They say before taking off their face coverings.

"Nick? What the hell is going on?" I say confused and he just hugs me like he hasn't seen me in years.

"I didn't know you were still alive," he says looking at me up in down in disbelief.

He tells me to follow him and I do.

"Why wouldn't I be alive?" I say and he picks up the pace.

"Cause you haven't contacted us," he says leading me to the lobby where it's full of people.

"Welcome to the end of the world," he says and I look at him confused and shocked before he leaves me.

The end of the world? What the hell did I miss?

I go downstairs to help the people here, giving them food or clothes, anyway I can help.

"Oh my god, Jordan is that really you" I hear from the distance and I turn to see Bruno, Naomi, and Vera running toward me.

They hug me altogether, trying to keep my balance as they completely run into me.

"It's so good to see you," Naomi says and Vera buds in saying, "yeah, didn't know you'd make it"

I look at them in hopes they tell me what's going on instead of running off to avoid telling me.

"Guys, what happened here," I say and they look at each other in confusion.

Why are they confused, I'm the one that woke up to a cracked building.

"You happened," someone says from behind and I turn around, ready to give them a piece of my mind until I see that it's Adam.
