03: Just Another Day

My alarm clock starts going off for the third time and I hit snooze, once again, and go back to bed.

A few minutes of peace go by before it starts going off again.

"Just get up, you're going to be late if you keep this up," Adam says loudly.

I groan as I get up while turning off my alarm and heading down to him.

Walking to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I say "in case you haven't noticed, I'm not a morning person"

From the kitchen, he says, "oh I noticed" and I chuckle lightly.

Once I freshen up, I meet Adam in the kitchen and I wish I hadn't seen what I'm seeing right now.

"Two things, first, why are you shirtless, and two, you can cook?" I say and he laughs as he puts out plates for breakfast.

"I find myself more in my element like this, and because I sleep like this," he says and I look at him with a bit of disgust.

"Yeah, I regret asking," I say as I make coffee and he just laughs it off.

I take sips of my coffee as I watch him place the food onto the plates and say, "breakfast is ready"

Walking over to the table I conjure his shirt and throw it at him, "I'm not eating until you put on that shirt" I say sitting down.

He complies and puts it on and we begin eating.

"This is actually really good," I say in surprise.

He smiles and says, "thanks, my sister taught me, it was our favorite thing to do together"

We continue to eat until we finish our meals. As I eat I feel hesitant about the fact that I took him from everyone he knows in his realm.

Getting up I collect our dirty dishes but Adam tries to stop me, "hey you made breakfast, I can do the dishes" I say quickly.

"Hey what time do you start teaching?" he asks.

Putting the dishes on the rack to dry, I look at him and give a fake smile as I say, "In a few minutes"

I head back to my room to change and when I come out, Adam says, "is that what you're wearing?"

I look at him confused and say, "what's wrong with what I'm wearing?"

He points and looks me up and down saying, "it's just that it doesn't say 'I'm here to teach"

I roll my eyes and say, "well good, I'm not exactly going for that look anyways" with a bit of attitude and we head out.

On our way to the Terren, Adam takes in his surroundings.

"We should have a cover story, what if I'm a foreign exchange student?" He says enjoying the scenery around us.

"Not bad but I think people will believe we're cousins more, we'll just have to make sure my mom doesn't hear it from other people," I say.

Adam stops and looks at me. I'm deeply confused and disturbed by the way he's staring at me.

"Not sure people will believe that," he says showing his hands.

I laugh and say, "sure they will, Hispanics come in all different shades"

He finally agrees to the cover story and we enter the Terren.
