There's a small golden color wisp floating in a spiral pattern up and down right in front of me.
I can't see my surrounding, it's dark and foggy on the outside. All I can see is the wisp.
I walk towards it and the closer I get the bigger it gets.
The wisp grows in height and power.
I can feel energy and magic radiating from it.
Soon the wisp gives up its form and disburses into strands of golden aura. Covering the space in its color.
After a few seconds of being mesmerized all the golden aura goes back into one space, becoming whole again.
It creates an outline of a circle and concentrates its energy in the middle of it.
Once there's enough it shoots toward me.
Overcome by fear and shock I can't move, there was a hint of curiosity and relief.1 I close my eyes and prepare myself for the impact.
I can see the light pierce through my eyelids and everything goes dark.
Waking up in a cold sweat I try my best to collect myself.
Hearing the fan louder than ever and the tree branches rustling from the cold wind, I take a deep breath and groan.
I fall back into my pillows as I place my hands over my eyes.
This is not how I wanted the day to start.
I get up from the bed and head down to the kitchen.
Getting some water I hear the floorboards creak behind me.
I quickly grab a knife and turn around to hold it against the throat of the person behind me.
"Hey, Jordan it's me!" Nick says in a panic and I quickly back down.
I feel bad but also a little embarrassed.
"Shit sorry, I didn't exactly get the best of sleep" I apologize and he puts a hand on my shoulder.
"You always got nightmares when you're overwhelmed with stress, anything I can do to help?" He asks as I take a sip of water.
"Thanks but I think I'm good for now, I'll let you know when I need help," I say reassuring him and he smiles.
He goes back to his room and I finish my water before heading back to mine.
Since I'm already up there's no way I'm going back to bed.
I get changed and head outside to clear my head.
Hearing the snow crunch beneath my feet and the sound of stilled air brings my mind to ease.
I walk away from the town, don't want people questioning why I'm out so early.
Finding a secluded space not too far from town I wipe the snow off a log and sit.
I look at the snow and hover my hand over it.
Turning it into water and then ice, I raise my hand as I grow the icicle.
"For someone so powerful you really stick to smaller things," someone says and I quickly get up to see that the mayor has found me.
"You are troubled," she says and I look at her questionably.
She's getting in my head. God, I hate mind magic. As a matter of fact, I'm starting to hate all kinds of annoying forms of magic.
She takes a sharp inhale as I block her from my mind.
