Feeling uncomfortable from the hard ground I slowly open my eyes and push myself off the ground.

Standing up I look around to see the village people giving supplies out like coffee and food to the soldiers. Clothing and materials to the families.

Tapping my shoulder Aurora says, "good morning, I got you these, you pop this in your mouth and then the water, instant toothpaste"

Handing me the items I chuckle at her positive attitude as she walks away to check on everyone else.

Doing as she says I walk around while containing the instant toothpaste in my mouth.

I spit out the toothpaste when I spot Adam hanging around the fence just outside of where we set up camp.

"How long have you been awake?" I ask leaning on the fence next to him.

"Not that long, I just took over patrol here so you don't have to worry about my sleeping habits" he jokes and I chuckle at him.

"How'd you sleep?" He asks and I look at the sleeping bag I was on.

"The best I could, I'm quite used to sleeping on the floor actually, when me and my family would travel we always didn't have enough beds and I hated sharing with my brother," I say jokingly and he laughs.

"I still can't believe I'm back, after everything we've been through on earth it just feels so surreal," he says and we turn around to watch yet another sunrise.

"Yeah, even though it feels like things don't ever go away" I whisper under my breath and he asks what I said.

I shake my head to tell him that it wasn't important, at least for now.

After watching the sunrise, his patrol shift ended and when someone switched with him we walked around the village.

When passing a few houses there are stares but not bad ones, just people being curious and saying thanks.

We stop and turn around when we hear a child call for us.

Seeing a mother chase after them they apologize repeatedly for having their kid run up to us.

"Oh no need to apologize, it's alright, what you got there?" I say crouching down and their smile gets bigger.

"I made this for the two of you," they say with a smile and their voice just melt my heart.

Holding a makeshift necklace out I put my head down for them to put it on me.

Adam does the same and we both get up.

"I think it suits me great, thank you little one," I say and they run off with joy.

"I think that made his day, thank you both so much," the mother says before going after them.

We continue to walk around some more, comparing and deciding whose necklace is better. Mine clearly.

Reaching the end of the street we are again stopped. A small group of people that look like farmers comes up to us.

"Uh, lieutenant Jordan can you help us with something?" One of them says and I nod.

"It's just Jordan and what can I do?" I say and they point at the roofs of the houses.

"Sense we took back our homes we wanted to make it like it was, we had flowers hanging from the roofs and they traveled from house to house and we all heard you're gifted at magic and could help us, only three of us can do magic," they say and I smile.

"Of course, I'll help, the three can come up," I say and everyone makes a path for them.

They hesitantly walk up and I make sure they're comfortable.
