28: Unexpected Reunion

After the long plane ride, Adam and I were able to find a hotel to stay at.

When we got to the hotel room we immediately crashed onto the bed.

Sleeping till the morning I was able to get the necessary amount I need to function.

When I woke up the next morning I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and then take a shower.

The stasis effect makes me feel like I was only put aside for a day or two but my body knows I was still for months.

Feeling the water hit my body was the most wonderful thing I've felt in days.

And to top that, I got to miss all of the winter so I at least get to enjoy spring.

While drying my hair I walk out of the bathroom and see Adam setting plates of pancakes and eggs on the table in front of our beds.

"Oh, thanks," I say grabbing a plate.

"No problem, so what's on the agenda for today?" He asks grabbing a plate of his own.

"I'm going to head to the Covenant's administration building to try and set up a meeting with the UK Covenant, it isn't too far from here," I say eating and smiling at him.

He lets me know that he'll be with me for it all and I appreciate it. It's also not like he has anywhere else to go.

After we finish eating we get changed and head to the administration building.

The building is a bit farther than I expected but we made it anyways.

When walking up the stairs to enter the building I feel my phone vibrate. Pulling it out I see that my mom is calling me.

"Hey, Adam can you break this," I say handing over my phone.

Looking at me confused he says, "are you sure?"

"Yes, if they track me before I can get anything done then the plan will be useless," I say and he finally breaks it in two.

Throwing away the broken phone we head inside.

Walking up to the receptionist's desk at the front, we wait for someone to come around.

"Oh so sorry for the wait, how may I help you?" Someone says appearing from the floor.

"It's alright, who would I see if I needed to make an appointment with the Covenant here?" I ask and they look at their computer.

"I would suspect your foreign? The Covenant is very busy already and currently, our administrators who are cleared to make appointments are out, I can leave a message for you" they say, and I breathe out deeply.

I knew the systems would be different and difficult but I also don't know how long I have until something goes to shit.

What am I supposed to do now?

"Jordan is that you?" I hear from behind. Oh, you've got to be kidding.

From the voice, I immediately know who it is.

Turning around I say, "Miguel"

"It's been such a long time, you've gotten taller, I've got them," he says to the worker behind us and leads us to his office.

I keep a distance from him as we follow behind.

"Dude why is there tension between the two of you? Who is he?" Adam whispers and I don't take my eyes off Miguel.

"My brother," I say and Adam is completely taken by surprise. 

Getting to his office he turns around and says, "can I talk to you alone?"
