Pacing back and forth in my room I try to think of why Max would want anything to do with me.

The last time we saw each other before any of this happened was years ago and we left things unpleasant.

But it doesn't matter what happened between us, I want to know why he's doing what he's doing.

Why go after the kids? What is he after?

Why does he have to make everything so cryptic? I guess I'll find out later today, all I can do is wait.

If I told anyone this they wouldn't let me go and they'll ruin my chance to know what he was planning.

Max isn't a reckless person, he plans everything, even backup plans.

Also, his magic makes him practically untouchable, although I might have a way around that.

You know what, I need coffee if I'm going to continue to stress about this.

Walking to the kitchen I make myself some coffee with what was left in the coffee pot.

While adding creamer I hear keys jingle and the door open.

Looking confused at Adam who walks in all sweaty I ask, "did you go running?"

Waving at me he says, "yeah, I needed to stretch my legs and it's pretty cool outside"

"Dude it started snowing yesterday, winter is coming you can't be running outside, especially with just a shirt and shorts," I say with concern and he looks at his clothes.

"To be honest I didn't really feel the cold and it's not even snowing yet," he says going to his room.

As he comes out and goes to the bathroom I say, "does being a demon allow you to stay warm in cold environments?"

From the bathroom he says, "yeah, maybe, I think so"

He's so lucky to be a part of another realm, I hate winter. The cold makes my bones ache, I literally turn into an old man in the winter.

Hearing the shower turn on I finish adding creamer to my coffee and sit on the couch.

I find whatever was interesting enough to watch on Netflix and continue to sip my coffee.

When I finished my cup I set it on the coffee table and lay down on my stomach, totally relaxing my body and sinking into the couch.

"Is today a lazy day?" Adam jokes as he comes into view and I can see he just got out of the shower as he's drying his hair with the towel.

Looking back at the TV I say, "for now yes, care to join"

Hearing his footsteps fade I can still hear him, "I'll make us something to eat and then I'll join you"

I raise my arm to give him a thumbs up and immediately drop it to the floor.

After a few minutes pass, I see him walk over with two bowls in hand and I sit up.

As he sits on the opposite end he hands me a bowl of ramen.

"Why thank you," I say in an almost accent and he bows his head to play along.

Eating the ramen I hear my phone ring from my room.

I groan in annoyance and put down the ramen and go and fetch my phone.

Picking up the phone I see I got a missed call from my mom.

I call back but no answer.

I text her, "hey mom, sorry I missed your call, what's going on?"
