It's Like Knives To The Throat

Hailee looked up at the wooden beams of the gazebo, her warm breath lingering for a moment. A thousand different noises tried to distract her: speedy squirrels and friendly birds and the crackling of the fire pit burning the wood that was just starting to dance just a bit higher. She couldn't let them. She just kept her gaze up, unbothered by the December cold.

"Hailee, guess what baby!" y/n shouted running towards the younger girl. When she got close to her, y/n practically jumped on Hailee, before peppering kissing all over her face.

Hailee giggled, gently trying to push y/n, but loving the warmth of her lips warming up her face. Y/n kissed the girl on the lips, before stepping back and laying on the bench, her head resting on Hailee's lap. "You seem happy" Hailee smiled. Now it was her turn to kiss y/n all over her face.

"I am actually. I wrote a new song and my mom said she will take me to a record label in hopes of signing me. I am a little scared since I never sang in front of an audience, but I think I can do" y/n smiled.

Hailee raised a brow, tilting her head slightly.

"Y-y/n--"

"I know I'm not a really big celebrity, or anything... but sometimes I think that's okay. And even if I don't get a label, or maybe I stop getting auditions... along as I'm with you, I'm happy. Don't worry my lady, no matter what happens I'll take care of you. I'll make you the happiest girl in the world."

"Y/n-"

Y/n took a breath closing her eyes, turning her head and burning it into Hailee's stomach.

"I couldn't sleep because I was going over lines and writing new songs. Just let me play here for 10 minutes" y/n mumbled.

"Y/n"

"I'm really going to sleep. Don't wake me up"

Hailee, slowly reached for y/n's head, brushing off the loose strands of hair. Everything was like a Deja vu. She was happy when y/n called her to meet at the park they once frequented as kid. That they have a moment, to spend together, talk, and admire one another like they did before.

And as y/n's breathing began to calm down little by little, it took Hailee back to the days as kids. When y/n had ran up to her in excitement just as she did and tell her the same thing. About being a big superstar one day, about becoming a singer. And sleeping on her lap for an hour, since she was so tired with her packed schedule. It was happening right before her eyes, but also in her head. It almost felt like a dream.

Hailee leaned down, placing a kiss on y/n's forehead, then one more very gently on her lips. Pulling back, she heard the words y/n's doctor had told her a few days ago.

"It's called delirium. She can hallucinate from her memory. It's a state where the past and the present are temporarily confused. Don't be surprised. Please embrace her"

Hailee, looked around, seeing the snow continuing to fall. For a moment, it felt as though she was in a snow globe. Where the snow falls gracefully, making it look almost magical. She took a breath in.

'After that long, difficult, and painful time, you came back again. To the time in your life that you longed for and wanted to return to the most.' Hailee thought, looked lovingly at y/n, while she slept.

Y/n was a bit confused when she woke up. A blanket was on her while she slept on the bench. She rubbed her eyes, looking up and seeing the wood instead of a ceiling or the sky for that matter. Quickly, y/n sat up in a panic before Hailee rushed towards y/n.

"Hey, hey you're okay. I'm right here" Hailee said, kneeling. She rubbed y/n's thigh trying to comfort her.

"Why are we outside, in the cold" y/n raised a brow standing up. She took the blanket and placed it over Hailee. She saw the redness on Hailee's cheeks and nose and felt the cold in her hands. Looking past Hailee, y/n smiled at the small, almost falling apart frosty the snow man.
