Liam
I see Marcus, Violet, Sarah, and Iris walking toward my car, and can only imagine what's to come. I roll down my window and Marcus walks over.
"Lilly has her car keys. Do you mind giving us a ride home?"
"Not at all!" Everyone slides in my car, Iris sitting in the back right behind me, and we share glances through my rearview mirror as I drive. Dropping them off at their house, I see Iris beeline inside, Violet and Sarah right behind her, while Marcus stays in the car.
"What's going on with you and Iris?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you not have feelings for her?"
"I'm not dating right now."
"I hate men. Listen, Iris wants you, help the rest of us out and sweep her off her feet already." I laugh, before shaking my head.
"I can't date right now." Marcus rolls his eyes, before leaving. I drive home, shooting Iris a text.
Me: "Ice cream with Kai tomorrow?"
Iris: "Is Kai third wheeling our date?"
Me: "Ice cream is a date now? In that case... Ice cream, just the two of us tomorrow?
Iris: "Sounds lovely."
-
"There is no way you like mint chocolate chip."
"Is that a problem?"
"You would be a mint chocolate chip guy."
"Once again, is there a problem?"
"No, just learning a lot about you."
"Isn't that what dates are for?" Iris and I are sitting in my car in front of the ice cream shop, since it's so cold, we decided to eat our ice cream in the heat on my car. "Besides, what did you even get? Cotton candy? That's a kid's flavor."
"It's a timeless classic."
"For kids."
"For everyone! Hence the word, timeless." I roll my eyes, seeing her sitting next to me with a giddy smile on her face. "I love you."
"I love you." I lean over, placing my index finger under her chin, and kissing her.
"I'm glad we're doing this."
"Me too. Feels like we're doing it right."
"Want to come back to my house?"
"Isn't that usually a third date thing?" She rolls her eyes, smacking my arm. "I think we did that before date number one. Not that I'm complaining."
"No, my dad wants me to rewatch all the Star Wars movies before Jacob's Star Wars themed birthday party, and I don't want to do it alone."
"Aren't your roommates home?"
"I just want to watch movies with you," she whines. "If they ask, we'll just say you were bored, and we said we're friends so it's fine. We slept in the same bed before we even coined the term friendship."
"Fine, how can I say no to you?" I drive us to her house, where we walk into the living room, surprisingly empty. Sitting on the couch, I don't sit directly next to her, what if someone walks in? She grabs a blanket, and tugs at my arm, gesturing for me to sit next to her. I slide over, and she curls into me. We start and after the first movie, she's asleep. It's cloudy outside, perfect napping weather. Halfway through the second movie, I also fall asleep, the most comfortable I've been in weeks, since she's in my arms.
"Hello?" I hear a screeching Lilly and I jolt up, immediately kicking away from Iris. What's the point, she clearly already saw.
"What?" Iris whines, rubbing her eyes.
"Why are you two cuddling?" She raises an eyebrow.
"Oh... We were cuddling?" I try to play dumb.
"What's going on with you two?"
"Nothing! We're just friends."
"Friends who were cuddling!"
"Yeah, and when we weren't even friends yet we fell asleep together and were forced to stay in the same bed," Iris retorts.
"Something is up, be honest." Iris rolls her eyes, and looks at me. Lilly is Iris' best friend, it'd be rude to keep it from her. I give her a reluctant nod, and she takes a deep breath.
"Lilly, you can't tell anyone this, but Liam and I are dating."
"Oh, we're dating?" I raise an eyebrow and Iris gives me an annoyed look.
"We went on a date, and told the other person how we felt, I'd say that's dating."
"We'll discuss later."
"Fine." I look up and see Lilly about to explode.
"Fucking finally!" She yells.
"Just, don't tell anyone okay? We want to navigate this privately for a bit first," I explain. "This is new for both of us, and we don't want the groups hovering."
"Plus, sneaking around is fun," Iris snorts.
"If that's what you wish, but Marcus will especially be pissed when he finds out."
"Well, he can suck it up," Iris laughs, before tugging at my hand for me to return to my original spot.
"Well, in that case, I suppose Liam can sit in on me talking about the wedding."
"Details!" Iris cheers, before curling into me as Lilly shows us venue options. After Lilly finishes showing us venue options, she leaves to get ready for dinner with Thomas, leaving Iris and I alone.
"So, we're dating?" I look down at her, and she smiles sweetly.
"Liam Bender, would you do me the utmost honor of being my boyfriend?" I laugh at the seriousness in her voice.
"Yes, I would love nothing more. Iris Cara, would you do me the utmost honor of being my girlfriend?"
"No." I look at her confused, and she lets out a loud laugh. "Yes, of course." I kiss her quickly, in case any of her other roommates are to walk in, and we return our attention to the movie. We make it through three movies before I decide to head home. Violet will be home any minute and who knows if Marcus will show up, so we decide to call it for the night.
"Goodnight my love," I say as we stand at my car.
"Goodnight pretty boy," she leans up, wrapping her arms around my neck, and kisses me sweetly. I get in my car, driving away in pure happiness and bliss.
