Governor Obiagu almost jumped when his phone rang and his aide brought it to him.

"It's Onyekachi, sir," the man said with a huge smile. The governor's face lightened as he grabbed the phone from the younger man.

"Good afternoon sir," Onyekachi greeted.

"My boy!" The governor was pleased that the man had even called him back. He had never seen anyone as busy as him. "I swear I have called you more than fifty times today."

"Sorry. Usman and I had a very busy day, hope no problem?"

"The first lady and I would be in Lagos tomorrow and we'll be having dinner with Governor Oluwadare. We'd like you to come, bring that your woman, Rose."

"Tomorrow is really busy for me, sir. How important is it? Will my absence be noticed?"

"It's very important. I also want to discuss something with you after."

"Okay. Send Usman the details. Goodbye sir."

Before the governor could say anything else, Onyekachi ended the call. The old man was not surprised, after all, he'd raised the boy and had always gotten the same abrupt treatment. He refused to allow it bother him. Not now when he was so close to his lifelong goal. Only a few steps remained and he was sure with Kachi on his side, things would go over smoothly.

Adanma, his wife hurried in at that moment, her slippers tapping wildly on the floor as she crossed the expanse of the living room. "Emeka came to call me. He said Kachi called?"

"Yes. I just spoke to him."

She inhaled sharply and lifted her brows, but the governor held the information tightly. "And?"

"He'll come for the dinner and he's open to discussing with me after."

Adanma breathed out in relief before taking a seat beside her husband. "Oh thank God."

The governor nodded. He was indeed thankful because if Kachi had refused, he would have missed this ripe opportunity that was coming his way. Finally, he could see the end of the road and all the sacrifices he'd made would not be in vain.

The next day, Kachi found himself in front of Infinite again and wondered if this was now his life. Was he cursed to keep returning to this club? This time it had been Chike that invited him and for another talk. Kachi knew he should have said no but his mind had other things planned. So he said yes and now he was back at this place.

There was a loud tap on the car's window and Usman jumped in his seat before looking to see it was Chike.

Usman immediately pressed the button beside the door and the window slid down. "Good afternoon sir," he called, wearing a large grin.

"Good afternoon my man. How's the family?"

"Fine sir."

"You actually came." Chike directed this at Kachi who was reclining in the backseat of the car.

He eyed the man warily before seating up. "Why are you saying that? You asked me to come here. Would you have preferred if I said no?"

Chike threw his head back in a loud laugh and Kachi stared at him in confusion. What was he doing wrong? Should he have refused the invitation for another talk? He thought he was being a good friend when he left all he had to do and came to see the man. Instead of the idiot to be grateful, he was laughing at him and looking at him wrongly.
