CHAPTER NINE

"Why don't you do all this tonight and tomorrow? It's Dani's birthday, you should spend the day with her," Maddie suggested as she walked back into the kitchen.

"I'd rather get it done today, that way I'm not rushing tonight and tomorrow morning," I explained to her. Today was Dani's last day in the hospital and, since she's been there a long time and I brought some of her things over, I needed to get some bags to bring them back. Plus I needed to get her a change of clothes for tomorrow and tidy the house up, since we haven't been living here in a while and I only sleep here.

"I suppose that makes sense," she laughed slightly and nodded her head. "You know, even I can't believe that Dani is getting home tomorrow, so I can't even imagine how it feels for you guys."

"Sometimes I felt like I'd never see the day when we got home," I'm really looking forward to not having to go to the hospital every day. "I can't wait until tomorrow, when we can just chill out at home, instead of spending all day at the hospital." It'll be nice just to be able to relax at home, something which we haven't done in a long time.

"I'm sure you'll enjoy the next couple of weeks at home, before you have to go back to work," she said, walking over to the table.

"It'll be nice, but I do really want to get back to work," I miss work quite a bit and would love to get back to it soon.

"Though I'm sure there is something you'll miss about the hospital," she looked up at me and smirked.

"Come on Maddie, not this again," I laughed and shook my head, not believing she would still talk about this.

"I'm just saying, if I was in your position, as much as I would love to get home and get back to normal, Dr Harper isn't a bad thing to come out of it all. You guys talk an awful lot for him being Dani's doctor, once you're not at the hospital to do that, you'll miss it."

"Maybe, but it's not like I had it before and expected it to last forever," I knew our conversations were only a temporary thing.

"All I'm saying is, it might be one thing from all of this stuff with Dani, that you might just want to try and continue." She smiled and raised her eyebrows slightly, before turning around and helping me to tidy up. I really shouldn't expected her to bring it up and she isn't wrong, I will miss it, but everything comes to an end, including my chats with Dr Harper.

"Where are those books?" I mumbled to myself, putting my hands on my hips and looking around the room. My eyes landed on the closet and, thinking they might me in the closet, I made my way towards it. As I started to open the doors to the closet, I heard someone walk into the room, but I assumed it was Dani and didn't look over.

"Woah watch out," the person grabbed my hand and pulled me towards them, before placing their hands on my waist to steady me against their chest. They moved me just in time, as the books I thought were in the closet, fell to the floor into a pile. "Well that would've hurt if that hit you," the person laugh behind me. I turned around slightly and looked up at the person, seeing Dr Harper looking down at me.
