CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

"Are you meeting with Dr Harper while I'm with Dr Reid?" Dani asked as we walked through the reception area of the hospital towards the elevator.

"Yeah, I'm meeting him back down here when I make sure you're okay," I answered with a smile. To be honest, I'm still waiting on a text from him saying that he's busy and that he can't make it.

"Do we still have to go food shopping after?"

"Unless you're happy not eating tonight, then yeah we have to," I laughed and we stepped into the elevator. "We won't be too long anyway, we just have to pick up a few bits and pieces," I pressed the button and turned to Dani.

"Hold the elevator, sorry," a man said as he held the elevator doors open and slipped in with his back towards me. "Sorry, I'm just running late and didn't want to wait for the next one," he apologised for holding the elevator for a few seconds, whilst pressing a button for his floor.

"Don't worry about it," I smiled slightly, as he turned to face me and my smile fell. "Tom?" I asked shocked to see my ex here, really not expecting to see anyone I knew let alone my ex.

"Hey Amelia," he laughed and looked just as shocked as I was, as he shook his head slightly. "It's been a while," he shifted on his feet slightly, before he slipped his hands into his pockets.

"More than a while," I haven't really seen him that often since we broke up, I think the last time was at a friend's party a year ago. "How're things?" I would talk to him every once in a while, maybe an odd text to see how things are going, but it's been a while since we've even sent a text.

"Yeah it's good, I'm just picking up a prescription from my doctor," he explained why he was here.

"Is everything okay; it isn't anything too serious?"

"No I'm fine, it isn't anything to worry about," he smiled at me warmly. "How're things with you guys?" He asked and looked between Dani, who knew Tom for a year, and I.

"We're good, Dani's just been ill lately so that's why we're here," I didn't want to go into what exactly was happening with Dani.

"Ah jeez, I hope everything is okay," he looked at Dani with a slight frown.

"Yeah I'm fine, finally," she nodded at him and laughed slightly.

"Good I'm glad everything is okay with you guys, it's been a while since we've talked," he looked back over at me.

"It's been a busy few months," I never actually thought about texting to him, it's never been on my mind. "This is our floor here," I said as the elevator pinged and the door slowly opened.

"It was good seeing you again, let's not leave it so long next time," he stood back from the elevator doors.

"Yeah you too, I'm sure we'll talk soon," I said as Dani walked between us and stepped out of the elevator. "I'll see you later Tom," I smiled at him, before following Dani out of the elevator.

"I'll see you guys soon," he waved at us and we turned to walk down the corridor, as the elevator doors closed.

"Well that was unexpected," I looked down at Dani and laughed, as we walked down the corridor. "That's the first time we've ever seen someone we knew here," I was surprised we haven't seen anyone here sooner.
