CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

"That's how I got to the position I'm in today, yeah it took some skills in business, but it mostly is about taking any opportunity that comes your way. And make sure that you have that drive and that clear vision in your head, about where you want to be, that'll get you anything you want," Tom finished up his talk.

"Does anybody have any questions for Tom?" Mr Peters stood up from his seat and walked towards Tom, who was leaning against the podium.

"I guess this class is pretty shy," Tom joked with a laugh, when nobody raised their hands.

"If anyone does have any questions, I'm sure Tom will be nice enough to hang back and answer them. But let's give him a round of applause guys," Mr Peters got everybody to clap for Tom. "If Tom is finished and unless you have a question, then I think you guys can head back to class."

"Let's wait to talk to Mr Peters," I turned to Robbie and he nodded, looking slightly more enthusiastic than before. I didn't particularly want to stay and talk to them, but I know it'll be good for Robbie and I don't want to stop him from talking to Tom.

"I haven't got anything I want to ask anyway, I don't need to talk to him," maybe he wasn't that enthusiastic.

"You don't have to ask him anything, just see what he has to say and what advice he can give you," I do know Tom will give him good advice. "It just means you don't have to go back to class, just talk to him for a bit then you can go home," I do hope it doesn't take too long.

Not in my wildest dreams would I have thought that Tom would be a guest speaker here, it didn't even cross my mind. Not that Tom is bad at what he does or anything, because he was always good at what he did, even at Uni. But when Mr Peters told me that he had a businessman coming in to talk to the senior years, I didn't think it would be an accounting and IT consultant. Then again, Tom was promoted to senior consultant pretty quickly and was given his own consulting team by the time he was twenty-four.

"Are you up for having a chat with Tom, Robbie?" Mr Peters broke my train of thought and I looked up at him, not even realising that he had walked over to us.

"I guess so yeah," Robbie let out a breath and stood up, before walking out of the row of seats.

"Don't look too enthusiastic now," Mr Peters said sarcastically and patted Robbie on the shoulder, as he walked past him.

"He is enthusiastic, he's just hiding it," I smiled and stood up from my seat.

"Are you okay, Amy? You look like you're in a whole other world," he smiled slightly worriedly.

"I'm fine Brad, I'm just pretty tired," I reassured him, not wanting to explain the whole situation. When Harrison and I were fighting, I did talk to Brad about it, because he could see something was wrong, but he wasn't to know who Tom was.

"Are you sure? I can stay with Robbie if you want to get some fresh air," he offered.

"Don't worry about it, I want to stay with Robbie and make sure he pays attention," I was pretty tempted to take him up on his offer.
