CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

"So how'd your break go?" I asked Amber, as we finished breakfast and the waiter cleared the table. I haven't really spoken to her since the first time we met, so I don't know how the rest of her time here went.

"Yeah it was good, it was nice to be back home, but I'm looking forward to getting back now."

"I just want my house back," Harrison piped in and leant forward, folding his arms on the table.

"It's my house too," Amber argued and gave him a blank, unimpressed look.

"Until you pay the mortgage and the bills, it's my house," he countered with a smirk. "If you want the house in your name, then I can change the name on all the bills, I won't argue." He laughed slightly, while picking up his coffee and taking a sip.

"I'm okay thanks, you're the one with the nice paying job," she shook her head at him.

"How do you know that? You don't know how much I earn," he set his mug on the table and ran a hand through his hair.

"Do you have a job at Uni?" I decided that talking about how much he earns, wouldn't end well and it'll only lead to an argument.

"No I haven't gotten one yet, I was waiting until I got settled and had found my feet," she answered me with a smile.

"Yeah that's a good idea, I know a few people that regretted getting a job straight away," I didn't get a job until a few months after I got to Uni.

"I'll probably look for something over the next few weeks, I'm pretty much settled at Uni now," she laughed slightly.

"Maybe I should start asking you to pay towards the bills then when you're home," Harrison suggested to Amber.

"Where you always this mean to her?" I looked over at him and laughed, since most of the things he's said to her lately have been pretty mean.

"It's not like I'm being serious," he defended while he looked down at me and smiled.

"He was always mean to me when I was a kid, it was such a relief when we went off to Uni," Amber contradicted her brother. "I was tortured when I was younger and you'd think he's be more mature," she looked over at Harrison and shook her head.

"Don't be so dramatic, I was a good brother when you were growing up, all I did was the normal annoying sibling stuff."

"You broke my arm," she exclaimed in disbelief and laughed slightly.

"You broke her arm?" I looked at him in shock, not believing that he would do something like that, especially to his sister.

"Okay you make it sound like I did it on purpose," he held his hands up in defence. "We were messing around and she was on my shoulders in our back garden, but I lost my footing on some stones and we fell. But I did warn you, so you should've braced yourself better," he tried to place some of the blame on Amber.

"I tried, but my arm broke," she picked up a napkin and threw it at him.

"How old were you when this happened?" If I'm being honest, I wouldn't put it past him to be that immature right now at thirty.
