Chapter 32 "Another Note"

"I don't understand, how are you here?"
Y/n asked, confused.

"I walked here"
Clay said with a chuckle.

"No, I mean like, how do we end up always running into eachother irl?"

"No idea. But you have to admit, it's kind of funny."
Clay replied.

"Major sus. I think he knew we were going to be here."

"How do I know you didn't know I was going to be here?"
Y/n asked him.

"Who would even know that you would be here and tell me?"
Clay replied.

"I know one person who would know..."
Y/n trailed off.

"Who Y/n? The only people who would know about where we are at all times are counterparts-...
Nightmare."

"Clay do you know anyone named Nightmare?"

"H-How do you know about them?"
Clay asked as he leaned forward.

"They are a friend of mine. I want to know if you have talked to him recently."
Y/n replied.

*GASP*
"Y/N! NIGHTMARE IS RIGHT HERE!"

"Hello Midnight."

"I don't understand how you know about him."
Clay said to Y/n.

"Like I said, they are a friend of mine."
Y/n replied.

"Is that true?"
Clay asked, sounding like he was talking to someone else aswell.

"She is right Clay. I'm her friend and she knows me."

"It seems that you do know him Y/n."
Clay said as he sipped his tea.

"Y/n? Can you hear me and Nightmare?"

"Mhm."
Y/n hummed at both of them.

"Y/n, can you, see Nightmare?"

"I guess you could say that. He is sitting next to you on your left."

"But how?? He is invisible to everyone!"
Clay said, trying to keep his calm.

"Ask Nightmare about it."
Y/n replied as she ate some of the pastries.

"Nightmare?"
Clay mumbled.

"Yeah...?"

"How can Y/n see you and maybe even hear you?"

"She has a counterpart too. Next to me is Midnight. Y/n can see counterparts that aren't hers."

"Sounds like some kind of gift."

"It is a gift technically. Just not the kind you are talking about Clay."

"Then what kind?"

"Show him Y/n!"

"I will pass on that offer."
Y/n said as she sipped her tea.

"Y/n! He has to know eventually!"

"Mhm. Eventually."
Y/n replied.

"Please Y/n. Can you please tell me?"
Clay said, looking into her eyes.

"Fine. You got me. I will show you."
Y/n replied before taking out her pocket watch.

"So that's the gift."
Clay mumbled.
