Amanah

"And this way, they were able to complete the orientation. Do you understand?" Miall asked, looking at me; this was what I heard. "Gargle gargle, sheru shama shakes, hedi hedi faya."

I nodded, looking right into his eyes.

"Wow, who would've thought you explain things in such an understandable way!" I exclaimed, smiling innocently. Imma fail. This man didn't know any better than I did.

"So that tactic didn't work; maybe we should try something else?" Michael suggested as he pushed his glasses up, and I smiled, leaning against my hand as I looked at him.

"I totally agree," I whispered, and Miall pushed my hand down, making me sit up straight. I stuck out my tongue for him, and he blew me a kiss. I rolled my eyes regardless of the way my heart fluttered.

"How did you learn in school, Amanah?" Michael asked as he sat down, crossing his leg over the other.

"Uh, they read out of the textbooks and then told us to go study on our own what we didn't understand," I said, clasping my hands over my belly.

"And did it help you in any way?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. His blue eyes stared right into the depths of my soul, kinda freaky.

"No, I failed most of the tests and dropped out of college. I never liked studying," I shrugged, and he slowly nodded.

"Do you perhaps remember that conversation we had about Noelle—"

"Of course! How could I forget? The episode where she told Hendris that she would rather fuck herself because she cannot deal with an egotistical, misogynistic man who thinks a little to nothing...and she was a nun, can you believe that!"

"Yes, what else stood out about that episode?" Michael asked me, and I bit my cheek, trying to remember anything significant about that episode. "Something to do about stages?"

"Oh! The eye colour theory!" I snapped my fingers. "Purple is the First Generational Wolves, the strongest of all five. Jasper are second, Teal are third, white is the fourth but are extinct and blue is hybrids," I recited, and he smiled proudly.

"As I thought, you're a visual learner rather than the other styles," Michael said, closing his books. "When I say Migration, what do you think of?"

"I think immigration, wolves disguising themselves as humans on earth where Orion was the first wolf ever to be mated to a human woman, maybe there's been others who were mated to other genders, and you guys just don't know," I shrugged suggestively.

"Never has there been," Miall said next to me, and when I turned to look at him, his eyes were glowing a soft gold while he glared at Michael; I gasped and raised my arms.

"Orion! Welcome," I wrapped my arms around his body.

"Hi, little girl," he was still calling me that? Oh well, I wasn't complaining. The pet names were cute. "Are you trying to call Amanah dumb by saying she doesn't respond well with the other learning styles?"

"It almost sounds like you're the one calling me dumb," I commented as I pulled away from the hug. Orion looked dumbfounded before he shook his head.

"I would never call you that. The dumb one is Miall. How is he struggling to teach you such easy things?"

"Maybe because I have ADHD, amongst many other sicknesses," I smiled, tugging the sleeves of my dress.

"Sick? Is Miall not taking care of you as he should?" He grabbed my shoulder with one hand as the other held my chin and tilted my head sideways. "Your mark is not flaring; you seem fine to me," he said, and I laughed softly, moving his hand from my jaw.
