Miall
"You guys made it through Inferno's Pit," the sun goddess said—yeah, we barely made it. "I'm so glad," she put her hands together.
My arm had been restored, but Orion was still weak. He shot her a suspicious gaze as he asked her,
"You're not going to torture us, right, Ylil?" I was tired, felt burnt out, and felt as if I was going to drop soon. This was exhausting; they should've chosen an intervention approach.
"No, but this journey is for Miall alone," Ylil said with a stern yet sorry look. Fuck, it's my turn now? "Whatever you see in there is never real, but it reflects you. Good luck."
I pray I won't have to fight with anybody or explain myself anymore. Why were all these gods so obsessed with what it was in our lives and tried to use it against us? I knew I was no saint, but it was getting old.
I should apologise when we were done with this; if I really wanted to move on peacefully this time, I needed to apologise to everyone back home.
"Won't you be going in?" Ylil asked, and she looked at me with a worried smile.
"Do I have a choice?" I asked, and her smile grew wider.
"No." The door opened wider, and I walked through it. I squinted my eyes as they readjusted from the bright room I was coming from into the dim-lit room.
I heard a baby's soft whine and the sounds of soft suckling.
"Hello?" I called out as I walked further into the room. I could see the bed with a curtain draped around it. A body lay there holding onto something. The baby whined again before whoever was on the bed hissed in pain.
"Sss, I told you to stop biting me, Mani!" That was Amanah's voice.
I stared around the dimly lit room, noticing how the sun rays entered the room through the slightly drawn curtains.
"Amanah?" I called out, and she looked up at me.
"You're back!" She smiled as she picked up the baby. "Look who's back," she cooed at the baby as she got off the bed and rushed toward me with an excited smile.
"Who's that?" I asked as I looked around the room. "You gave birth?" I whispered, my heart sinking as I realised I missed that too.
Why did it feel like I had been in here before? I felt a sense of peace and wanted to stay here forever.
"Haha," she rolled her eyes as she readjusted the baby in her arms and softly patted her back. "Are you okay? You don't seem too good. Did the Prowlers give you a hard time?"
"You gave birth?" I whispered, my heart sinking as I realised I missed that too.
"Yeah, four months ago, Miall. And you were there with me. You even passed out after seeing how wide something was ripped," she pointed down with a coy smile and kissed my cheek. "Come, let's go make food. You must be starving."
Why don't I remember anything she's talking about? Last I checked, Amanah was still pregnant.
"Where's everyone?" I asked her as she passed me the baby. "Why doesn't she have a face?" I asked as I stared at the faceless creature in my hands.
What was going on here?
"What are you talking about? Mani has a face," Amanah touched and kissed the baby's face. "See, she has your eyes with specks of gold just like Orion's. Plus, she has your nose and my mouth; she's my little angel!" She giggled as she kissed her face all over.
