Two weeks passed like a breeze. I hadn't seen Miall or Orion since then; I was actually surprised that he did respect Miall's decision. To be honest, life was peaceful now; even though it was kind of crappy in the beginning, I adjusted. I adjusted a bit too well.
I put my hands on my waist as I looked at the wall we had just finished painting with Malakhi. Nyleve graciously and excitedly gave me another room for the baby, and I obviously couldn't wait to start filling it up with everything for my baby's arrival.
Luckily I had Anin, Malakhi and Nyleve to help me with everything; it kind of sucked that Miall couldn't be here for this, but Nyleve and Malakhi did say that he was working, the only two people in this house that actually got to see him. Whatever, I don't care.
"Where do you want me to put these?" Malakhi asked, carrying the rocking chair and the bassinet crib at once. I pointed to the wall closest to the door, and he placed them down.
"Ooh, you're so strong, aren't you? Carrying everything at once," I teased, and he chuckled, putting his hands on his waist.
"I'd carry this house for my brother's baby if I had to," he said, and I smiled, shaking my head. I'm so happy this child will at least have a loving family. I will make sure of it. "Gosh, the room is almost done. All we have to wait for is the paint to dry, and then it will be complete.
We had already spaced out everything, and the closet was almost full of unisex baby clothes because Nyleve couldn't restrain herself, and Anin had already bought toys for the baby. At least I already had people who would be willing to take care of my baby once in a while.
"Are you sure you don't want me to assemble the crib for you? It wouldn't take long," Malakhi asked, and I shook my head. I wanted Miall to at least have done something in his baby's room, so I was leaving the crib for him whenever he was ready to face me.
"Yes I'm sure, we still have a lot of time before this angel comes," I said touching my belly and looking at the best view in this room, the french window that gave us a view into the woods, it was magnificent.
"Yes, we sadly do," Malakhi copied my actions and pushed his hips forward placing his hand on his belly.
"I don't look like that!" I shouted, slapping his hand, and he chuckled.
"You're right; you look like this," he puffed out his cheeks, put both his hands on his hips and waddled around me. What a jerk!
"Malakhi!" I said, trying to grab his hand, but he ran away. I chased after him as carefully as I could, and all he did was laugh at the distance between him and me.
"Do you realise how funny you look right now?" He held onto his hip and slowly ran away while laughing.
"That isn't funny, stop it," I laughed behind him; I eventually caught up with him, and he laughed even harder.
"This is gold!" He laughed, clapping his hands.
"If you keep on laughing at me, I won't give you your reward," I threatened, and he stopped laughing and gasped.
"You wouldn't!" He said dramatically, putting his hand on his chest. "Say you're lying."
"I'm lying," I rolled my eyes and opened the freezer. I took out the ice cream and looked at Malakhi, who licked his lips. "You're such a dog," I said, and he grinned, shrugging.
"It's in my DNA!" He proudly proclaimed, and I rolled my eyes as I passed him his own pint of ice cream; after a long day of work, this was how we would unwind together. We'd sit in the kitchen, both enjoying our pints of ice cream while he would tell me all about the pack's gossip; yes, Malakhi and I gossiped together. Was I teaching him bad habits? Perhaps...but did he object? No, he didn't.
